Um representative mcgovern is in the office so we're very excited to get a chance to speak with him directly about this very important opportunity for our future. um So, over the past two weeks, the Green new deal has been spreading across the nation and has become a massively supported um piece of legislation and we're about to go in I'm talking to you, um life on message President. We brought a ton of constituents from his district's or totally get that totally get that but I'm sure you understand you can't just drop in on a member of Congress and demand to be with them right away so he's in a meeting right now, he meets with everybody, especially constituents. No we're not we're here to celebrate him, but I'm just saying showing up and demanding a meeting and everything that's a little aggressive. Um were totally on board with you guys, but be don't be aggressive with your friends that's a little bit off putting I'm totally into what you guys do, but, like we've been getting very aggressive and people are hammering us on the phone and in person it's just not a good idea. You get to hear that I didn't hear that rachel yeah, nothing hi. Um. My name is audrey lynn. I'm from watertown massachusetts and I'm 17 years old. I used to think that everything in my life was permanent. All the material things stayed. The same the houses that line my Street the trees on the sidewalk the grocery store down the road are all as they were 10 years ago. I grew up with the Obama administration and I didn't realize until 20 16 that the government is not permanent and perfect that it is the power of ordinary people who keep the machine running. I became angry The government for the first time and marched in Washington in January with my mother and my first real act of political expression. I grew up and I realized things in my life are changing all the time. The houses on my Street are the same, but the people are different the sidewalks are there, but the concrete is new and nothing not even the trees lasts forever. I attended a semester school in vermont. This past spring or I learned the names of the trees in the forest White pine Each yellow birch black cherry, quaking aspen paper, birch and White watch. I remember working in the forest, one afternoon and my teacher pointed to a big, solid tree and said, see this White House here this won't be here in 20 years. None of the ash trees will there's an invasive beetle called the emerald ash bore and it is killing the trees that have stood tall and strong for decades because warmer temperatures are expanding its territory it's more of a feed off the tree and when it can't get nutrients, it dies surrounded by Trees that day I tried to picture the forest without them, but I couldn't see how something so solid and permanent could be so fragile. I remember feeling helpless in that moment. Like I couldn't do anything and it is too late to save the White ash. I am afraid of more changes like this that will inevitably take place. Changes that are out of my control it's an empty feeling to know if I visit vermont in 20 years the trees. I am familiar with will be gone. I can't stop the White ash and dying, but I do have the power to prevent further destruction and left unchecked. Nothing will be untouched by climate change. nothing Solid trees which have existed for hundreds of years are permanent. I love walking on the beaches in Cape cod in the summer. I love the sand, dunes that stretch up tall with a thin grasses on top that sway in the breeze. Sturdy buffers of sand between the ocean and land, but every year the dunes become less and less a whole parking lot collapsed two years ago off the side, solid, permanent and swallowed by a softball permanent, concrete and The sand crumbled and swallowed a car whole, the rising tides will sweep away cut cod no matter how high the dunes are. How tall the buildings are built or how solid the parking lots appear. The seas will rise over them and the next time it won't be empty cars and empty parking lots. It will be crowded beaches and city streets and human lives sinking with the sand the Green new deal is the only solution that will protect my generation, protect the trees and our forest. Our buildings and infrastructure and help to lift others up in the process. I know World is not permanent. It is constantly changing and beautiful and remarkable ways. The uh things died make room for other things to live. The seasons. Change power shifts, people move away and they move back, but climate change is not beautiful. It is destructive and chaotic and if untamed will destroy the strongest parts of our society. This is why we are taking action right now to protect our trees and our dunes and the people we love From the catastrophic chaos of unjust change, my name is audrey lynn and I am fighting for my future. All right Alright we're at congressman and lynch Department governs office and we are sitting in and um hoping to get a face to face conversation with the congressman. Um. He is a ranking member of the House. Rules Committee and has a lot of authority to lead um and make this select Committee on a Green new deal happen um. His staff or has said that aggressive approaches such as what we're doing right now um are not the way to work with allies, however, um representative mcgovern has not yet endorse the Green new deal, despite about a month of it being highly public and so now we are filling the room um and awaiting Opportunity to speak with representative mcgovern and we're not leaving until we get to So we just heard from our first Speaker is audrey. You guys welcome to the Congress to be out in the hallway, a little bit okay so um and we're moving and so, if you could help us out we're finding a lot, it seems like we're gonna start eating with him soon but he comes out we're gonna. Do and handle to to join in on our stories and hear what we have to share with them um but until then we're gonna continue sharing our stories and some over here and I was scared and climate change as we just heard from our first winner now we're gonna hear from our next Speaker lost Greece um let's figure out That's what I'm I don't, I don't speak for him so um, but again what I'm asking you guys because if you don't want to that's fine it's your choice but we're moving in it would I'm just a guy and we're working on your behalf and we're trying to get things done so you can stay in the office whatever I don't like. I've told you before, if you wanna be effective communique all right well, we do have a few more speeches here that would like to communicate uh so we are we're gonna respect you and leave the office because we really care that yeah and he's gonna try and talk to you guys. You guys can at least repair clinics and communicate with them and the message will be to deliver it's going to be a good Thank you so much. We really wanna work with you guys. You, wanna set up an event on his schedule or we can give you an hour or two hours of his time. If you call ahead, we can make arrangements to meet with you anything you want. We can accommodate ok yes, we just want him to come and join us and you wanna just give you 100 percent. Yes, alright we're gonna be in the hallway waiting for him to come out ok absolutely alright, so now we're gonna be in the hallway and we're gonna continue sharing our stories, our next Speaker is Yes, oh, everybody clear out We get so representing the government is in the office who's gonna come out and speak with us. We'll see you soon with his meeting um we're hoping that he's gonna work with us in this it seems like he's almost ready to sign on saying the heat is going to support of senator of Colorado or Texas selecting a Green new deal that is why we are here today. We want to celebrate him if he's going to support us um so now we're gonna hear stories Dear mother Earth, I want to introduce myself to you, my name is grace. I'm 17 wanna raise and own urban heat island named louisville kentucky and my family comes in from another part of you called Mexico. I have seen you and your wonders for many locations from the beaches and Hills of Spain to the beautiful deserts of Mexico. There are no words to describe your beauty at the least. I can say, is thank you. Thank you for the trees that allow me to breathe. Thank you for the rain that clenches my thirst in the plan to allow me to eat and replenish my health. Thank you for the ground that allows me to stand sleep and walk on. Thank you for the Creatures that keep this ecosystem and a perfected cycle. Thank you for providing me the view of true nature, the way your wind, weaves through the leaves creating a harmony that never leaves my mind and the sound of bugs buzzing. While I catch fire flies will forever give me a nostalgia that I can never forget you've been good to me, but we haven't shown you how grateful we really are to you. We use fossil fuels that make it hard for you and me both to breathe you constantly choke in the same rhythm as your children, when they walk to school or play in the Park. We dump oil in your oceans. That make it hard for your creatures to live. They suffer until you To take away their pain, we tear down your trees to make taller buildings. We can no longer view that horizon of yours that you worked so hard to put in their view in reality or actions cause pollution and waste that stunts their growth and increases childhood asthma. Your children crying anxiety of the heat caused because of us summer is more of an agonizing experience where children would rather be stuck in an enclosed space with nothing to do compared to burning their skin on the playground uh to burn their skin on the Equipment and keep talking and talking okay compared to compared to burning their skin on the playground equipment or passing out due to the heat. You are dying and so are we. I can't drink your water. I can't breathe your air anymore. I'm tired. I'm tired of burning myself on the pavement, that manmade. I feel the heat through the soles of my shoes, which causes them to tear faster I'm tired of your beauty being blocked by smoke the smoke that man that comes from Every day and I told them my generation made you didn't want this. You didn't intend for this. You wanted to view for us to gaze at when in reality or screens distract us from what man is making you wanted us to see your stars, but they're starting to feed. I can't see Anymore, I'm sad I'm terrified and I'm disappointed in them and I'm disappointed in what manmade I wish there's a way I could apologize and make it better and there is but I can't do it alone. We need men to stop your suffering to stop our pain. I need the help of all your children. Dear mother Earth it's starts today. Your children have looked up and noticed the stars. Your children will change man. Your children are here to end your pain. It happens today sincerely grace in the sunrise movement So the governor is here to talk with us. Hey everybody, how are you I'm Jim mcgovern oh my goodness, how are you doing great to see you and I apologize for you can you hear me okay go away right anyway. I apologize, but we're moving so that's. Why there's no place in my office but anyway, but thank you for coming. How many from massachusetts, who are here. Yes, what is that good. Well, I appreciate you being here um and I bet some of you before um we've had some conversation But I'm here to talk to you about whatever you want, I mean when you're here so we have a very specific reason that we're here today, we are hoping that you will support Alexander across to purchases select Committee for a Green new deal so the answer is, I I wanna get yes the answer is yes, on that, but this is this is what we're doing right now we're trying to figure out. What the Committee looks like and this is a work in progress so I'm on the House rules Committee uh were also in charge of putting together the rules package for the opening day in that rules We want to make sure there's a select Committee, um and some of the things that we're talking about right now we're trying to work out with uh some members who are a little bit more skeptical um you know there are issues about you know jurisdictional uh issues like you know all of the energy Commerce we does this. Why are you taking her power away we're trying to say is it's not taking anybody's power away. What we're trying to do is get more people involved right and this issue, which is a big issue um and the more eyes that are looking at it the better and committees are still gonna have Deal with it and so um so what I'm working with with the with leader pelosi right now, trying to get something in place. That uh Israel that is this has money behind it. That's funded so they could be a staff um and they could be to get us to where we want to get to so we're working on the details um and I hope you know that it is you know that we get it so um I know in previous conversations uh you also mentioned your support um and that you're working with other leadership and we know that Um because of your position as you're, the upcoming chair of the House, rules Committee that is really you. Um and your will that will make um the select Committee on a Green new deal happen in January and we know that time is of the essence. We literally have less than a few weeks to make that happen. So we're asking so we didn't need it, but this has to be done in the next few weeks because our rules package is uh. We wanna pay it will be voted on on January third Right now that doesn't mean that if we don't have it, we can't do it. You know a week later. We want to get this right, but but but the goal is to get something in place. You know, like how many people you want on the Commission, the Committee have a you know the funding and all that kind of stuff. We have to get. We hope to get that in place if it slips a little bit um and then you're not gonna happen. I mean it means we're just trying to get the details right, but I would just tell you that I I am, I am committed to this select Committee. I wanna make sure that it happens right Yeah I'm committed to the House of the Committee on on it on a Green new deal to deal with the issue of climate change and so many other things now. So what we have to work out the details. I'm just gonna say to you. We shouldn't get hung up on every little detail because you can work things out and that's what the Committee right way yeah, but I mean you know um and uh, but we uh. We got we gotta get. We gotta get this Committee. Let me tell you some people you know, say well, I just wanted this kind of you know when I We're gonna do details out so you know, we have some really good members of Congress who are in the energy and Commerce Committee and ways and means which we do this stuff. They committed to this stuff as well. No one 's you know, I think that the controversy that comes out do what you say we're gonna take away the jurisdiction. What I saying that always saying this select Committee you know, will come up with ideas that will go through the committees of jurisdiction right here. We got two if nothing wrong with that right that's the way this process works. You know, I Gerri Commission, on human rights, right um that doesn't have anywhere doesn't have any formal staffing per se. We have one person in each on each side but this Commission is it is what these things are. What you make of them and this Commission actually drafted the magnet ski act uh, which is why donald trump and all this trouble with Russia right now, but but we drafted this idea that holds human rights violators, accountable and you know, we went to the foreign Affairs Committee and became law and that's all you know all good You know we we just got. We have to get this just we have to get a place holder in um. You know in this rules package and we will work it out. I've met with alexandria, acosta quickly as we have a long meeting here um trying to work this out uh, but we just need a vehicle um and you know so we will you know we will work with you on this and um and then one word request. Why we have so many constituents here and others from across the country lining the halls because we're showing you that we have your back throughout this process um. we You to publicly tweet your support for the House, select Committee on a Green new deal. Yeah. I think I will know what I mean right, but what I wanted but I wanna make sure that what I want to make sure I wanna. I wanna be totally you know so in the select Committee you know has already you know, for my first presented in the Green and he keeps on change. You know the tweets, a little bit so I I need to see. We want to see the legislative language of what it looks like right so I can't tell you that I'm gonna commit to the exact you know Committee recommended in the documentary weeks ago or the one today because it may change a little bit we're. Gonna be working out. I can tell you that I'm committed to a select Committee, um you know uh that will deal with these issues. That we, we can, we can do that so you can tweet your support yeah. We could do and you do that before we all leave you. We do have a couple of minutes and come back and You're not I wanna thank you for your support. It means the world to us. It shows us that our grassroots organizing really works. Um and, if you don't mind, we might just stay here for a little bit to celebrate and sing and you're welcome to join us. Why do you don't wanna hear me sing. Thank you, but let me just say this. You know, look, I. I appreciate you being here um because look this is an important issue to me. It has been for some time and it's been really frustrating quite frankly, to be in Congress less, several years, especially in the minority when we have the majority of people in the House and the majority of people in the Senate on the Republican side, I don't even believe in climate change. I mean and so You know and so when you get to climate change, deny is that are running. This place. You can't schedule. You know. Votes on anything I mean. We can't get you know. We. We can't, even get um you know. We can't, even get them to accept the science um hey and um and so you know I think things are changing here um and that's all to the good and I think we need to be when you need to be wind at the backs of your elected officials to say that you know You know we want. We want you to move in a different direction, but we also want you to be bold. Don't be afraid to be bold and push and if we don't get everything we want and we don't get everything we want. You know we we get to set the stage. You know to get to where we get to everything we want um I think all of us you know want some progress uh no matter what I mean but that doesn't mean we can't debate the bigger issues as well. I mean we can have you know, and and we find out where people stand on some of these issues and then we work with them to try to get them on our side so this is you know there's, a you know it is It is important in a lot of times, people uh, I think that some of my more Republican friends would always think that climate change is an issue that most people don't really vote on. They don't care about. It enough. They don't think about it enough um the premise that's changing. You know I serve on the agriculture Committee as well, and you know I do farm tours every year in massachusetts and you know I bought the farmers all the time. Some of them in the 90 s will tell me you got to do something about climate change because something's not right here, so this is not just a an issue for you know, academic. this I mean it's having real impacts, talk to our uh. You know I'm mayor is to represent cities on you know, on the Coast, I mean they're dealing with these issues of how you know you know they're. There to see is basically encroaching on their cities um. You know they. I think they get it um. You know you go you travel around the world um. You see people you know um fighting over trying to get clean. You know clean water or any water. I mean the conflicts develop This um and I mean so this is this is a is a huge issue. Um and so um so anyway, um you know we're trying to at least on the rules Committee and the rules package. We were trying to make sure that this select Committee happens and so um. I would just think you know we got to work out the details and we gotta make sure that everybody knows that nobody is trying to step on anybody's turf, but we wanna do is wanna as many people as possible involved in this issue, so we actually come up with some good ideas and actually move things forward Um and so that's why we're committed to and anyway we will work with you and I know that if I fail that you will all come back and see me come on you will not fail. Okay representative. Mcgovern from the bottom of my heart um as myself and as a massachusetts and as America and as the world, I wanna thank you for taking this bold stance against climate injustice We're going to stay here and we're gonna do a little bit of a celebration you're willing to stay if you, if you want um but we really just wanna to say that this is so powerful to come here, um hoping and praying that one of our elected representatives will actually stand up and support something that we fight so hard for every day and then we come here in numbers. There are hundreds of us here and you come out of your office yeah and you stood with us and that is like whoo Actually, registration uh before you sign on to anything so I guess the point of the legislation are you committed to a hundred percent renewable energy by 20 30 and I personally am but that stuck and that's not gonna be part of the defense. We need that's a goal that's the goal we wanted to. I am yeah are you committed to a uh House select Committee on the Green new deal that you package by 20 20 movement yeah. I am By 20 15 20 30 alright, that's that's the goal. I support Um I got some I think you do so. Uh hopefully we'll have a a bigger office to Um the reason why we'll talk about this is you're here right and so that's. I mean I mean and I think that's what you always tell Peter I'm so happy that Democrats won uh, but you know that's the first step now the hard work begins to make sure it that we move forward on things and uh again knowing the constraints we have with the Republican Senate and a Republican in the White House who doesn't believe in climate change um. You know it's gonna be challenging, but we need to begin the debate and we need to set the ground rules and we need to start thinking about what we can do so anyway. I think hey I like my friend Um well, we were happy to be happy to work with you on all this stuff. Okay. Thank you so much. thank It's a huge news here in the Capitol in dc, we just met with representative mcgovern and he has officially endorsed creating a select Committee on the Green new deal. Um. He says that they're trying to get rules written by January fifth, as he is a ranking member of the House, rules Committee and that he is seriously committed to 100 percent renewable energy um and um. It was just really incredible to see him actually come out and speak to his constituents. It tells us that our organizing is important. Our voices are valued. We are respected. No matter our age. No matter the color of our skin where we come from. I just I'm so inspired by That um congressman, mcgovern came out and joined us so now we're going to um do a little bit of a celebration because we have such a um important leader and our um Congress who supports what we're doing here and it means so much to us Yeah hundred to 20 30 uh uh um Sarah do you wanna tell us a little bit about how you feel I feel amazing. Rachel this is so powerful. We didn't think that he wasn't gonna be in his office today, when you came so not only is in his office he's come out he's worked with us on the side. Yes and that is everything that we were hoping and now we're gonna do is we're gonna stick around we're gonna continue to share the stories of prepared to tell him about why temperatures each person And and why we're so scared and why we care so much to fight and fight with him and for him and for everybody and we're gonna be doing. But singing and we're gonna celebrate and we're gonna feel good You know and um here is the stock of all the letters we have delivered so far. I think there are more coming, but if you listen to the beginning of our video, everyone who's here has been sharing the reasons. What they're fighting for and why they came out to dc. Today um so yeah let's head over there Okay and we're gonna have a tough time getting financing Committee chair of This is incredible. uh So again, my name is rachel echols. I am with sunrise movement and I am involved in the sunrise Boston hub. We came out today to speak with congressman mcgovern. He is the representative for the state of massachusetts and he is a ranking member of the House. Rules Committee. He has just officially stated that he endorses creating a select Committee on the Green new deal um. He says they are working on writing some rules um to um be finalized by Fifth, um and that he is working with other House leadership. He sounds very committed to this cause and um really uh respects the fact that we have come out to speak with him here in dc You should follow them You see how high I was just wondering if I can film the meeting back in our day. We were taking a picture and if you could just give us government, I think we have to put some stuff in boxes real, quick okay he's got like he's like sure, okay So currently, someone from sunrise movement is meeting with congressman mcgovern to um discuss more about um his statement on the Green new deal. Um we're hoping to get to um join that meeting and a little bit. But for now we are waiting outside and feeling good feeling, happy to be here and um very inspired to see um as young people, making an impact on our own so yeah Hockey would you be interested in sharing a little bit about how you feel right now. Yeah um. I mean it's really amazing to hear what the government said, but uh we're still gonna stay here until we actually get the exact words that we want them Where is it would you be willing to share how you're feeling right now. Super excited um. We just need to hear with the furniture and we are very excited about you're, just saying this feels like it's like it's like a little light just a little sweeter. So yeah it's a big moment for sure yeah anyone else feel like sharing how they're feeling right now Feel like it should be like some kind of catch I'm also I'm a little bit more surprised that the guy that rescued so Oh, somebody to choose there's someone to sleep in the hallway with a hundred people do you wanna share anything. How are you feeling right now. Um I'm feeling very positive absolutely nice that the Congress person came out and spoke to all of us and I'm really encouraged by what he said wonderfully so yeah I'm very happy. Thank you present Exactly described as All right we are hanging out in the hallway of the us Capitol here in dc outside of congressman mcgovern office, um he's, a ranking member of the House, rules Committee and he has just made the amazingly um inspiring and hopeful announcement that he supports creating a select Committee on Green new deal um and so we are just um hanging out now waiting for the official statement coming from his office and um We're gonna be doing some celebrating sharing some more stories and um yeah it's a great day to be in dc right now. This is amazing news That's the rachel so it's an interesting situation happening. He's like very clear yes, but he's unsure about tweeting exact language that we have people in this office right now negotiating what his language is gonna be and what it is yes, it's. Gonna be it's very specific. That we need him to see the support a select Committee on this out House, Andrew cosgrove because Green new deal that is what we need him to say and so we're just trying to get him to publicly treat that and that would be yes, either way we're gonna continue uh standing here Stories and singing uh but if he refuses to use that exactly which a public tweet and then you're gonna sit in I think an important discrepancy to make note of is that we want a select Committee that has legislative authority. Um in the past committees have been created on climate change by the Democratic party, but only with the authority to discuss um climate change. This wouldn't be a fully funded Committee that has authority to propose real legislation that could be passed by the House of representatives and moves onto the Senate um and so we want to make sure that congressman mcgovern approved specifically those details because that is what makes the difference between um speaking about what we need right now and speaking, what will Constituents happy and appease um and so we're waiting to hear exactly what is going on and um are still feeling really positive and excited. We just wanna make sure that congressman mcgovern, it holds true to his word and um makes a statement we're looking for. Thank you. Thank you. it's They're really awesome we're one of the banner and that one I have Thanks for coming you know this is great for having you know it's really this year thanks for your amendment no well, we need it well. I need you to so we're gonna we're. All in this together, so we're, just gonna be you know, move forward with the first thing is get the select Committee and shrines in the rules so we get it up and running and and then we go from there um but uh, but now is the time of this recession to me um you know that each other reporter the United Nations if we don't do something in the next few years, together and that was my goal, obviously Thank you for being here with Uh, I don't it's not Remember I know people have uh uh you got a moment about the scenario will be obviously you are willing to risk arrest because they will not win yeah so our pressure are done was just created. The space we needed for this outcome and um I've been very bad uh. what That There's, another sit in her life very quickly. um So if you haven't heard, there are two other concurrent sessions happening right now. Um we are just gets discussing potentially going and joining the other ones. Um so we may be moving to um the office of another Congress person to stand in solidarity with other parts of the country where they are demanding that their leadership do the same thing that um congressman mcgovern dead by supporting the select Committee for a Green new deal There's, a group here It's now, we're gonna hear from some people who are at this action. Um and hear a little bit about why they're here and what they stand for Hi I'm lisa I'm from Minnesota and I'm fighting to protect the people. I love at home and abroad moving hi I'm karen murdock and I'm from vermont and I'm no expert here. So I've really noticed the loss of snow over the last few years and I'm fighting to protect our winters and the beauty that they community I'm sorry I'm from San Diego, California and uh come from and I'm fighting to protect um our communities and our environment and our people and there's no time like the present I'm also from San Diego, California, but I live in Boston and I grew up in a place where rather than the snow days we have hired a um. We had so it's falling from the sky when I was a child and we have to cover our mouths in order to be able to breathe and I fighting for world where children don't have to experience the fear of losing our homes survivors. You losing your lovely hi I'm quinn hickey I'm from portsmouth new hampshire. I grew up reading dystopian fiction and um. I also grew up In politics, a country that had a lot of prosperity but built it on going to war in other countries and build it on exploiting, like people who had no voice in this country and so now, as I'm seeing that dystopian fiction come to life, seeing floods and fires everywhere. I'm finding to all the people who are here who don't have the privilege to be in the United States to actually fight the people that are the perpetrators of climate change and not just be the victims. We can't let that happen. So that's. Why. I'm fighting My name is lisa and to I'm from Philadelphia and I live in vermont now. I'm fighting to protect clean air clean water and basic human rights in both places and around the world. Um. But anyone else, like to share right here. I go I'm Ryan hagan from massachusetts and I'm fighting to save and improve the lives of people like you and me everywhere um I'm sure I'm anna I'm from Western massachusetts and I'm fighting to protect the people who will be most vulnerable to climate change cool during a name zach villa from new haven Connecticut and I'm fighting for clean air clean air and the credibility of every climate scientist that's pretty cool Hi I'm bianca I'm from Boston massachusetts and I think like a lot of people here coming to you just like the thing that I think about when I'm not thinking about anything I'm thinking about what my future will look like in 20 years and the choices that I will or won't be able to make, because of it um climate, climate change is preventing us from from having the opportunities that generations past ad and from be able to make the choice the choice to whether you want to stay in their hometown or go somewhere else when Boston, whether hometowns gonna be underwater, whether we can make that choice whether we can have kids a choice Felts, I can't even imagine just how much fun wait is that choice felt for generations past and I'm here, because I want the opportunity to make those choices to make pretty basic choices about my life. Um and I yeah I just want to be able to live a secure, healthy life and everyone deserves that um and that's why I'm here today I'm sure Hi, my name is amelia mcgrath um. I come from a rural working class family in maine. I'm fighting for working class families for more vulnerable because I want a just future. I want address transition. I don't just want Justice. I want prosperity for our poor and vulnerable communities. Military hi I'm jamie rudy. I live in Boston um and I have got about climate change. Every day for as long as I can remember, it's always on my mind, because it's The fate of the whole world and I am here to fight for a livable future, the Green deal the new deal is the first time I've honestly felt hope on climate issues that I can remember and I am here to push it and help make a habit so hi my name is shelly and a roman I'm Chelsea Mass, but I lived in lynn mask and lived in La I've been to new Orleans after hurricane Katrina of parents and family were we go right now and everywhere I've been everywhere anyone of us step is affected by climate change appears to be ash falling in La or the windows, like snow the son of the, a bright orange Nasty gray sky color for forest fires, there's, flooding in lynn in Puerto, Rico and who new Orleans after hurricane Katrina. I just make it very clear in the elected officials at every level. Do not care about disadvantaged communities or how to help our country out and those are the pilot programs that we can see for every area in the world that's affected and that they're gonna be left behind and we're gonna get pushed out and there's nowhere for us to go and unless we empower ourselves and what I will do, it for us so if you like to say anything Sure uh, my name is Chris. I'm from Boston. Um. I spent my career working with okay. We are the one so come on in Yes, we got three to see uh alright so it sounds like. We got some really good news which is that he has endorsed the very specific wording that we have. That alexandria casa, cortez, has put forth um. This is incredible because it means that his statement has real meat um and we can hold him accountable to something that we both agree is important and is what the country needs Words on and then readjust the picture or do some singing to celebrate treated the best and really know this is So I'll do it, but let's not, let's see you guys Pick a song or get through it so you guys were singing we're. Gonna sing and we're standing here take a photo because representative mcgovern has said he will support House select Committee on a brand new wooh You know Whoo Together we wanna thank you so much for standing with our generation is standing up for a House like me on a Green new deal.
