Here is a time lapse piece of the 95% Full Moon Rise from Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. It was a perfect night with wind down to 5 knots & nice clear sky to work with. I was out past The Belongil Creek as I had been the night before but this time I did a few more calculations to see if I could capture the rise correctly. My practice from the past two nights allowed me to locate the right position after two earlier failed attempts. I was using the iPhone App PhotoPills to locate my position but this time I managed to get the timing correct for the moon to be behind the lighthouse once it had risen. I must let you know that this is quite a tricky task & I am very happy that I captured it correctly.

If you have a look at the lighthouse in the clip you will notice that up near the element the safety rail has been taken down, making this a little more unique. You may also see a few people walking around to the right of the lighthouse as the moon rises in front of them.

There was a lot of sea mist this night which made focusing of the lighthouse a little more difficult than the past two nights but I had to work with the conditions that were.

The images to make this clip were captured from 4.8 Km away from Cape Byron Lighthouse using Canon 7D Body, Canon 600mm F/4 IS ii USM Lens, & a Canon 1.4 Extender on a Manfrotto 178 cm Tripod. There were 1155 images used in the production of this time lapse.

Duration of clip: 2 mins, 55 secs.
In real time the duration of moon rise was - 385 - 6 mins, 25 secs.
