This week we presented the students of Potsdam Central School with the Swim a Mile for Hospice trophy at their final home meet of the season. The trophy goes to the school which raises the most money in support of Swim a Mile for Hospice. Potsdam Central will once again proudly display the trophy for the entire year! Together they raised more than $1,500 to support our event total of nearly $33,000. Its amazing to see the efforts of these young people in support of Hospice. I...n addition to those participating, Potsdam Central Coach Michelle Garrow was a member of the committee that founded Swim a Mile for Hospice. Since it began she has been instrumental in organizing the event at Postwood, securing volunteer lifeguards, organizing the safety team and creating our swim pods. We thank Potsdam Central for all of their contributions over the past 8 years. We couldn't have done all of this without you. You are fine athletes and community members. We hope to see you next year!!!!

We are absolutely AMAZED. Although it was uncertain this morning, as the swim approached the weather began to clear. Conditions weren't perfect, but our participants and volunteers stuck with us. It was a record year as 88 swimmers took to the water and helped us raise more than $30,000!!!! We've been striving to reach that goal for many years and with your help we did it this year!!!! Thanks to our event sponsors, our swimmers, those who supported them with many, many donations, our volunteers and all who had a hand in the event today. We can all agree it was a very special morning. THANK YOU for bringing this support to our organization and entrusting us to put your money to work caring for your family and friends. Our community is absolutely incredible.

Many thanks to Chris and John from Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad for bringing their boat out to set up the course!!! We managed to get most of the buoys in just as the thunder and lightning hit. This event truly takes an entire community to put on and make successful. We are so grateful to everyone who has a hand in it. The weather looks like it will hold for tomorrow morning, but keep those fingers crossed!!!!

Swim merchandise has arrived!!! Hospice care is brighter because of all of you, so you deserve to stand out!!! Keep doing a sun dance or whatever you think will bring good weather for a few hours Saturday morning!!!

If you like the looks of these t- shirts visit www.swimamileforhospice.org to register. It will only cost you a half mile or mile swim...no big deal. You won't regret being part of this amazing event!
