The Swing Street Big Band, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is a 17-piece traditional big band reminiscent of those led by Glenn Miller and Count Basie. We play music for listening and dancing and have dates available for your reception or party!
Our band had its genesis in the Oldham County Community Band. We are forever grateful for the efforts and support of Mr. Brad Rogers, band director at Oldham C...ounty High School, who was critical in Swing Street's start-up efforts. Another key figure in those early days was Mr. Bob Zirnheld, a multi-talented local musician. And, of course, our fearless founder and leader, Mr. David J. Mehl! See More

The full band has five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, and a rhythm section of piano, guitar, bass, and drums. A smaller 11-piece version of the band is available for smaller venues, with four saxophones, two trombones, two trumpets, piano, bass, and drums.

We often feature guest artists, such as vocalists Barbara Sodd, Jeanette Kays, Jennifer Lauletta, and guitarist Greg Walker. We play the golden standards and choice modern material for listening and dancing.
