Transparency Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) in order to help realizing the views and beliefs of the Afghan people about the upcoming elections and its fate: conducted a nation-wide survey in partnership with 21 civil society organizations during the past three months. The survey evaluates crucial and key issues of the election from the perspective of the Afghan people and has gained significant results in responding to key questions about elections. TEFA intends to hold two more surveys, in wider context, until the elections.
TEFA released the result of its survey in presence of political parties, media, CSOs, IEC, ECC , women and you and other stakeholders through a press conference today in Serena Hotel.
The survey overall figures are stated as follows:
• The credibility of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) among from participants prospective - 29% believe that (IEC) has the capacity to hold a transparent election, 30% of participants are uncertain, and 41% do not believe that the IEC has the capacity to hold a transparent elections.
• Trust in government impartiality in electoral affairs - 29% of responded positively to the impartiality of the government, 33% of are uncertain, and 38% does not believe that the government is acting impartially in electoral affairs.
• Regarding the possibility of holding the elections on the date announced date - 45% of the participants are optimistic, 32% are uncertain, and 23% believe that the elections will not be held on time.
• The willingness to participate in the election - 14% of the participants said they will not vote, 33% are uncertain about their participation, and 53% said they will participate in the upcoming elections.
