I’m personally in favor of keeping Scotland and QP at Hampden but interested in hearing your thoughts.
So the campaign rolled into the 1st Hampden this evening aka Hampden Bowling Club. Yes the site of the world's first purposefully built international football g...round. Did you know that the first turnstile in a football ground was first installed at 1st Hampden? It was the genius of Queens Park and their recognition that they had to manage the crowds Queens Park also invented the season book or as you now more commonly call it the Season Ticket. Bet you didn't know that either? And my favourite. Scotland were unbeaten on this ground and had an aggregate of 17-7 against England over 3 matches. How we would all live for those days of the true Hampden Fortress!
1st Hampden is the template for all football stadia that have existed since. I have just looked up the internet and there is hardly a reference to it. How we have failed to look after this incredible piece of history? About time that changed!
Just another part of the Hampden Legacy that we are promoting and want to preserve!
So onto tonight. We met up with Simon Weir and the McHugh brothers who came along to find out what we are up too. After two hours of throwing around a lot of ideas and getting them up to speed, we have them added to the campaign team. Happy days.
The moral of the story? Everyone can help. Everyone can do their bit. Everyone can help spread the word and contribute.
The momentum is building and we can feel it. The Hampden Lion is awake. The roar is coming. You just don't know when. But when it does the world will know it!
Here is our little video explaining the 3 Hampdens. Please share it. Its important!!
Come on Tartan Army - we need you. We need every General, Colonel, Captain, Lieutenant, Flag Bearer and Piper for the Campaign. You do so much for Scotland. Enjoyed so many matches at Hampden. Time to give a little back to save your home!
