These unique tables were hand crafted from the woods
surrounding Indiantown Gap Military Reservation near
Harrisburg Pennsylvania in the 1930’s Great Depression and...
World War II. They were made by The Youth Conservation
Corp, a government social service program that helped the
teenagers of unemployed and military families. Each piece is
unique and was constructed from tree branches and
ammunition crates. The tables were used by famous
Indianapolis race car driver Eddie Sachs when he operated
the “Old Mill” in the 1950’s and early 60’s. They were part of
the package of furnishings that was included in the rebirth of
the landmark mill as The Mod Mill. They have been in dry barn
storage ever since the destruction of the building in 1970.
Some even have carvings of names and initials. Some have
pieces missing, but most are in surprisingly good condition.
We have tried to research the validity of the story of the
furniture’s origin as told to us by Mrs. Sachs but have no
definite proof. Some of the table tops do have military
markings on the back, and I have read articles that mention
such busy-work projects the teens were assigned. We need
to make room in our barn and are selling these tables at
reasonable prices depending on condition. Contact or just call anytime between
9 & 9 at 610-714-9025

The Mod Mill DVD Album Set - The whole story!

Spent a very nice afternoon with Jerry Deane, reviewing the double DVD he's created about the Mod Mill. From its beginnings through the heyday of the Mill, righ...t up to the reunion show in 2014. Lots of pics and some 8mm films from "back in the day", video from the 2009 and 2014 shows. It's excellent! Jerry put a lot of his time (and money) into making this, a labor of love for him for sure! We agreed that it was totally finished, and he says it should be ready for distribution in a few weeks. He'll let us all know when and where it will be available. You guys are going to LOVE IT!
