We had room 107 just up to the lobby. First night was quite noisy Because we came for 4 nights I asked if it was possible to change our room for another more quiet and higher
The hotel made his best.... We had the room 507 facing garden. It was really different
I would like to thank the staff so kind and helpful.
The hotel is really beautiful and so central ( It was not my first time in Amsterdam )
Thank you Albus

I actually want to check out!!!

You have completely ruined two nights of our four night anniversary stay by putting us in TWO completely unsatisfactory rooms. ...

603, Room 1: two singles beds when I actually booked one king bed.

109, Room 2: Must be the worst most noisiest room in the whole hotel.

I can not believe how you have treated our booking which I'd informed you was for a special occasion. The booking was made well in advance, so please can you explain how you have got our stay so wrong?

I'm an disappointed beyond belief and will be contacting reception and management.

The newly remodeled hotel is quite nice and a perfect location. What made it 5 stars for me was the management's prompt response to a concern of ours. They were quick and very gracious, something no...t often seen these days. See More

Friendly welcome on arrival. Good modern design. Reception very helpful on arrival, but ignore requests when things aren't right. Ie cleaners didn't refresh coffee, so asked at reception and request d...idn't get any further. Also had dirty towels on first day and a filthy bathrobe. Friends asked for cupboard to be dusted in their room as shelves thick with builders dust. Request received by friendly receptionist but nothing happened. Bar staff use fingers to put lime or lemon slices in drinks. So nice hotel, but a bit noisy and shabby on service. See More

Friendly welcome on arrival, especially receptionist Sabien, she is so nice and helpful. I've stay in apartment-type room, and it's spacy with modern design. The location is good, it's convenient to w...alk around the city. Only one (big) minus is the internet. The wifi is unstable, constantly on and off. I didn't expect to pay a 4 stars hotel with a very BAD wifi like this. See More

The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is excellent. Lots of choices for all tastes. There is a cook making it a la carte too. The rooms are spacious. A very good value for the money.... Highly recommended also for its very central location. See More

After initially thinking our room was very small it didn't actually matter as we were using the room only for sleep and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Would have given 5 stars if the showe...r had been more powerful.
In summary, a fantastically central location with comfortable beds and very friendly and helpful staff. If I visit Amsterdam again I would definitely consider The Albus.

12 days of Christmas in Amsterdam

Amsterdammers'' love for the word 'gezellig' (meaning: similar to 'cosy' but used in a broader sense) is seen no more fittingly than over the holiday period, when the city's 'village' charm shines in fairy lights, snugs up in warm cafes and bars and brims with silly season spirit.

IAmsterdam made a list (and checked it twice) of the top twelve things to do (one for each day and in no particular order) in Amsterdam over the festive period.

🎬 IDFA: International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam

Each November, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) transforms Amsterdam's city centre into a paradise for documentary film fans.

A world of cinematic discovery at IDFA.

IDFA is a renowned international film festival that treats documentary lovers to the latest and greatest domestic and international arrivals from the documentary film world. No other festival brings together so many great films, devoted fans and talented film-makers in one place, making IDFA one of the world's leading documentary film festivals. The films presented at IDFA all tell extraordinary stories about life – often revealing and moving, they can also be shocking or funny.

A global perspective

With hundreds of international documentaries on offer, IDFA's programming provides a look at the world from a variety of unique perspectives. Taking viewers to some of the world's poorest and wealthiest places, the documentaries featured are often as poetic as they are powerful. While Amsterdam's cinemas play a central role in the festival's programming, you'll find a wide variety of special events, lectures, discussions and workshops taking place at venues all over the city.

The complete programme can be found on the IDFA website. A large proportion of the film screenings are in English or with English subtitles.
