I didn’t go because of its hyped but because I am a genuine advocadolover.
Yes, there is a waiting line and no possibility to make a reservation but they text you when it is your turn and you can walk around in the meantime.
Yes, It is an instagram hype but our experience there was good and we enjoyed it.
Yes, prices are not cheap but what we expected and in line with prices at other establishments.
So for us: yes but go with an open mind instead of 5* treatment expectations and look around to see the plates when chosing yours.

Yet another overrated and disappointing place that, it seems to me, has gotten its fame and “reputation” based on the photogenic looks of its foods and the trendy wannabe guests that just want to snap a photo and upload it in their SoMe channels.
So sad!
I was rudely greeted by the person in charge that day -not a manager- in the most anti service-minded way. “Did you guys book a table?”. No welcoming words whatsoever. First strike.
It took like 10 mins for a waiter to come to our table. Strike 2.
The food is pretty and that is it. Overpriced and almost mediocre. The so-called toasts are not even warm when they come to the table. And they cost around 10€. What? Yeah, true.
How can you call a toast if it’s not warm? Strike 3.
When addressing this to our waiter (a Spanish youngster that was actually very kind and engaging) and the person in charge, the explanation was that the bread is in fact toasted but it’s been done in advance to speed up the process.
What??!! This to me shows a poor quality control and a way to maximize the restaurant’s seating turnover!
Strike 4.
I hope that this is read by the owners/managers of The Avocado Show and that they correct these terrible mistakes.

Giving 1 star because 0 is not possible. When you arrive at the place, you are greeted by a guy poorly dressed and equally mannered, that turns out to be a bumper (yes, a bumper), that rudely informs you when you're about to get inside that "where are you going? It's going to take 1 hour to sit, you better go away buddy" (and I'm quoting the EXACT words). If you decide to still go for it, you're up for some overpriced, bland and in some cases even disgusting dishes, seasoned poorly (or not at all), looking good but tasting horrible (when tasting like anything at all). Sadly, it's another of those crappy places in De Pjip that got famous over Instagram and now is living of this fame.

Go for it if you want to take a couple of instagram trendy pictures but by all means, avoid eating it - just consider it an alternative set for some food shots, if you're into it. And in this case bring some lights.

So its inevitable to get in line, they put your name in their sistem and then you can go for walk til they text you to let you know you´re next! So it isnt that bad! The food was very good. The prices are not cheap though. The servers were really nice, we had a great chat with one of them, so it really was worth visiting! Afficher la suite

Overrated and way to hyped up for what you get. The dishes are simple and something you could get at any decent place which serves lunch. Wish I saved myself the bucks cause I’ve could have whipped this shit up in the kitchen myself this morning and it would be way better. Afficher la suite

I’ve been wanting to go here ever since it arrived in Amsterdam and I finally got the chance to visit yesterday! It definitely didn’t disappoint!
The queue went down fast and although we had to go away and then come back, which was the perfect opportunity to visit The Avocado Store!Even my other half enjoyed it and he’s not the biggest fan of avocado

Absolutely delicious fare and extremely helpful and friendly staff. There is a waiting list always. Go by and you arrange a time you could come back to eat and they text you a message when you should start making your way back to the restaurant. It is worth it! Afficher la suite

Absolutely worth the trip! Was already in Amsterdam for a trip last summer and we remembered seeing the videos of the restaurant on Facebook so we gave it a try. Definitely glad I got to experience it! Not too costly, I’d like to add, and the wait wasn’t too unreasonable given there were about 7 of us. Afficher la suite

Just dont go there! Had to wait 1 hour for a table. After getting one we were asked 3 times to change our place. Dishes suck badly so we left them untouched. The waiter/doorman was so rude from the beginning of recieving us till the moment he came to take order and said that what we order is "not enough" and he doesn't understand why we order what we wanted to order after One hour waiting while according to him we could order our wished dish anywhere else. In short, they dont deserve ur time and money for which they cheat on you with rude manners. So send there someone u hate badly and your enemies. Afficher la suite

Please cease and desist chilean avocado consumption, people in avocado-producing towns don't have access to water because investors steal it from natural sources. Every avocado you eat is a family that can't drink, shower, wash clothes and cook. Source your avocados from other country where greed doesn't drive business Afficher la suite

I read many opinions before going there, so I was prepared for example for waiting time, long line to get a table etc. From the comments I expected a little place, but in reality it's quite big! I don't understand why some people call it tiny ;) I was lucky and din't have to wait very long, every around 7 min another person could go in. We ordered nachos for a starter and "a main dish" so it filled us up, as portion of nachos is nice and big. It's quite pricey, but according to the owners, you also paying for "art", skills of the person who is preparing a dish etc, so completely understandable. They have tasty lemonades, we had with blueberries (which is better) and raspberries. Ask immediately for a big size, as waiter won't ask you which size you want and bring you a small. We didn't notice that at first. I would chose lemonade over the smoothie. Afficher la suite

Look up the word "overhyped" in any dictionary and you will find this place. To sum up my experience: careless and rude staff with mediocre and overpiced food.

We had a great experience! Expect to be put on a waiting list when you arrive, but it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly, and the food is beautiful and delicious.

Nothing tastes home-made, not even the mayo or hummus. The chicken skewers tasted like they were pre-packed with sauce, like what you get from the freezer section at cheap supermarkets. The poke bowl tasted like the most synthetically flavoured dish we've had in a while. The spices sprinkled on our avocado looked pretty but were actually musty. Almost everything we ordered was way overpriced and especially the chicken cold cut on the sandwich tasted like it came out of a pre-sliced chemically-laden package- which it probably was. Maybe if they focused on properly seasoning the avocados and offering some freshly home-made dishes which consist of more than just cutting up avocados like some kind of factory, it wouldn't be so bad. But the truth is that we felt terribly ripped off. Must say I agree with Hiske Versprille's recent review in Het Parool, although she might have been too nice. Afficher la suite

We did not make it inside, my friend and I happened to try at around 3 in the afternoon last Saturday. All I can say, I had read about this place online and thought about trying it, but I had no idea of the hype, that made our experience quite weird. We arrive there and there is a group of British guys standing outside chatting and looking at their phones, we stand by the door as we see the sign "wait here", nobody takes notice. At that point my friend goes to touch the handle and one of the brit guys jumps on her saying very rudely that we need to wait there. We apologized saying we simply had not understood that he was a doorman, we thought he was one of the group. He spends another 5 minutes chatting with these guys that wanted some info, then he comes back to us and liquidates us saying there is a very long waiting time and we will not make it as it closes in 2 hours. Fair enough but the nightclub bouncer attitude that tries to block the undesirables from coming in was really weird and out of order. Afterall we went to Sushito and had a very nice pokeh bowl with fresh avocado there. All I can say is that I am not going to try again even if I am in the area, as it seems the place is suffering from its own success and the stressed attitude of the bouncer seemed to reflect that.
