In 2017, the Chicago Defender must focus on the 2020 census, gentrification of Blacks from or near the lakefront and a record number of African Americans leaving Chicago. I would personally like to s...ee the Chicago Defender champion the cause for Blacks to channel their tax dollars and lottery wagers towards the education of our own from Pre-school and K-12, they call it investing in our future, which is our youth. Let's repeat history and shoulder the responsibility for us, ourselves. See More

"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the Judgment(Hebrews 9:27)." The Bible says that everyone will stand before God to give an account of every word, thought, and action. Let’s... look at the Ten Commandments(Exodus 20:1-17) to see if you meet God’s standard. Is God first in your life? Do you love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Have you ever used God's name in vain, made for yourself an idol(making a god in your mind to suit yourself), lied, stolen, coveted, hated someone, or dishonored your parents? Have you looked with lust and therefore committed adultery in your heart? If you have broken just one of these laws, then you have sinned against God. The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God(Romans 3:23).” The penalty of sin is death and eternity in hell. The good news is this: Jesus Christ took your punishment when he suffered under God’s wrath and died on the cross - “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him might not be lost but have Eternal Life(John 3:16)." He then defeated death by rising from the dead. God now commands you to repent (turn from your sins) and trust in Jesus Christ alone to Save You. No amount of good works will get you to heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus Christ today. Read the Bible daily and obey what you read. See More

Lets get real, lets tell the dam'n truth, with no hold back or non sense. 1. Stop, protecting the Gang's, that are shooting and killing your families. 2. Hold the public officials responsible for fail...ing to do their job, C.C. Sheriff Tom Dart, C.C. President Toni Preckwinkle, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, President Obama, the entire C.C. Judicial System. 3. Support the Second Amendment and do not support the fools, who want to disarm you and leave you completely defenseless. I.E. Father Michael Pfleger, Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg... who, is quoted at an Aspen Institute Conference as saying, "We should disarm all Black and Hispanic Males under 25 years of age! It is not "Gun Control", it is Control of the Blacks and Hispanics that they want! See More

Cinco de Mayo
(Spanish for "fifth of May")
is a celebration held on May 5.

It is celebrated in the United States and in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla

(English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla).

Mexican Americans also often see the day as a source of pride; one way they can honor their ethnicity is to celebrate this day.

The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico's Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September.

Mexico managed to decisively crush the French army, then considered "the premier army in the world"

The victory represented a significant morale boost to the Mexican army and the Mexican people at large.

In the description of The History Channel, "Although not a major strategic win in the overall war against the French, Zaragoza's success at Puebla represented a great symbolic victory for the Mexican government and bolstered the resistance movement.

As Timemagazine remarked,
The Puebla victory came to symbolize unity and pride for what seemed like a Mexican David defeating a French Goliath.

It helped establish a much-needed sense of national unity and patriotism.

I follow ut because my father helped build their printing presses in the 1930's.or 40's. And as a child I could go and he would make me those square paper hats. Loved the parades and picnics as well.
