Today we had to say goodbye, at the funeral of Groundhogs old manager Wilf Pine. Wilf had a 'colourful' life, lived to the full. Above all, his generosity to those he met and boundless love for his family was remembered with affection. A tribute by television presenter, broadcaster and author, Fred Dinenage (who Wilf helped when Fred wrote books about the Krays) and the song 'Don't Cry Out Loud', sung at Wilf's request, by his close family friend Elkie Brooks, were presented to a full church. For Tony McPhee Wilf was simply his friend and was happy that they recently managed to keep in regular touch via text.

With utter sorrow I learned about the death of Wilf Pine, my commiserations to Ros Pine, his wife & the rest of his family, I've known Wilf since I met him on a... plane taking bands from festivals in Europe, he became 'Hogs manager soon after & I have so many stories he told me, I recommend the book written about him & his life story, fascinating!!!
I hoped my speech would improve so we could talk on the 'phone, but unfortunately it did not.
RIP my good friend.
