Jaycee, you are such a strong woman! I've been recently reading your books. I am currently on book #2. It honestly has given me inspiration to do way more than I thought!! I am so proud of you, your g...irls, and your family! I lost my dad at age 11 so I didn't get to know him very well but I know he was an amazing man!! I miss my dad, I am happy I got to spend the small time that I did. I thank everyone who has helped you truly find yourself! I find myself not so strong lately but I have honestly have gotten so many blessings since day 1 of me reading your books! It's so unbelievably true. I've also started reading again all thanks to you! A love of reading brought back to me! I would love a new book suggestion for after I finish your 2nd book! Things are looking up for me too. Thank you for such sweet honesty. I love for that and I love how you have progressed! Thank you for being you!! ✌ See More

“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.” —Henri Frederic Amiel

Science has proven that there are many benefits to practicing gratitude. Here are a few examples, gratitude improves physical and psychological health, it improves self-esteem and can enhance empathy and reduce aggression. Henri Frederic Amiel’s quote about gratitude inspires action, “J...ust Ask Yourself to Care”.

The JAYC Foundation aims to increase the awareness skills and broaden the perspectives of law enforcement personnel. The program offers an interactive alternative approach utilizing equine therapy and drawing upon the experience of the Dugard family. Our goal is to help overworked officers bring compassion, joy, pride and thoroughness back into their work. Communication, teamwork, self-care, and intuition all play a...n important role in this program. The focus of the workshop is on law enforcement officers responding and working with victims of all types of abductions, familial and non-familial. “Today’s caterpillars are tomorrow’s butterflies”
Matshona Dhilwayo

The amazing process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly is truly astonishing. What you don’t get to witness is the energy and hard work that it takes to radically transform while in its cocoon. Sometimes as humans we don’t feel like growth and change is happening but it is, with energy and hard work we emerge stronger and more resilient.

JAYC Foundation One Small Something

When I think of St Patricks Day I think of rainbows but have you ever heard of a moonbow? (also known as a lunar rainbow or white rainbow) They are real!
Its produced by moonlight rather than sunlight. Moonbows are much fainter than rainbows, due to the smaller amount of light reflected from the the moon. In fact, moonbows often appear to be white, because light is usually too faint to excite the cone color receptors in human eyes, it is d...ifficult for the human eye to discern colors in a moonbow.
Rainbows have always made me feel hopeful and now that I know about moonbows I think even when the night is dark there is still light (and hope) somewhere. Anyone going through a tough situation I hope seeing this moonbow gives you hope for the future.
Has anyone actually seen a moonbow? Share pics if you have.

The JAYC Foundation is deeply saddened by the tragedy in the Napa/Yountville community. The victims of the shootings were three women who had tremendous commitment and compassion for the veterans they served. Unfortunately this is not the first time nor I’m afraid will it be the last. My hope is that from this horrible event some new insights and treatments can be found so this does not continue to happen. We send our condolences and prayers to the families and coworkers.

Phones Down
When you’re done reading this post put down your phone and connect with someone. Yes, reach out and talk to another person. As crazy as that sounds in today’s digital world it makes sense that we feel happier and more content when we check in with another living thing, for example a family member, a friend, or a pet. It doesn’t matter who it is, what matters is that it might make you or someone else a little hap...pier, and may even help yourself or someone else feel less lonely or isolated. It doesn’t have to be for long, a simple check in, “How have you been doing lately?” or with a bit more time, “would you like to get a cup of coffee together soon”? A small timeout from technology is what we all need sometimes to get our sense of belonging back. Try building on the idea of connecting without using technology. At times a smile and a hug can have more impact on loneliness than a like and a comment.

One Small Something

As Helen Keller once said “I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do.” Sometimes it is difficult to get started when things seem too big to tackle. Choose one small something, something that would make a difference in your life or someone else’s. Do something kind for yourself, help a friend who is struggling, run an errand for an elderly person, or just go out of your way to hold the door for the person carrying too many bags. The point is not to change the entire world the point is to change our own little world. In no time at all, if everyone did one small something the world would be changed.

"Life's adventure is important." - Jaycee Dugard, A Stolen Life

The JAYC Foundation and the Board of Directors expresses it deepest sympathies for those affected by the North Bay fires in California. We are extremely grateful to the firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, and neighbors of our personnel who sacrificed their own safety to protect others. Unfortunately one of our advisors lost her property, but the community is rallying to provide every assistance possible. Our hearts break for the people of Sonoma and Napa count...ies. Our founder, Jaycee Dugard, will be forever grateful to the community of Sonoma for providing her a protected space for the healing process of her family. Rest assured that in the weeks and months to come, The Foundation will make every effort to be provide whatever services are appropriate for the community. CALIFORNIA STRONG!
