I just wanted to make a note that I spoke with Adam Barth at the City of Modesto Transit Services Division this morning about things which have taken place wit...h the route changes. He seemed very understanding and considerate of the circumstances which I expressed to him, he took the time to listen to me.

I don't know how many voices from the community attend the city council meetings, particularly those such as myself who rely almost exclusively on public transit, but I'm going to try to see about getting involved, if I can, so that I can try to help with the changes going forward.

I am a legally blind, full-time single father of two boys, and without the MAX buses, I would be extremely lacking in independence.

I have used this bus system for about 11 years, well before my boys were born. The drivers have always been extremely helpful, and so has customer service.

As of February 1, some big changes took place – there have been some good changes, and then there have been some ugly ones. At first I wasn't sure to whom to direct my frustration. I see now that a lot of drivers (and evidently MAX customer service) are coming under some serious fire by riders, but the lashing out is misdirected.

I've been very frustrated, but NOT with MAX! Prior to the change, many of the schedules seemed to work well, and have worked well for several years. Now I find that my boys and I have to run across intersections (when it is our turn to cross, of course) to catch connections [hopefully], and that I have to run about 1/2 mile to attempt to catch a bus after dropping them off at school in the morning.

If you're reading this and you are frustrated, too, please understand that these changes were not dictated by Modesto Area Express, but rather by the City of Modesto. It seems to me that they are trying to throw the bus company "under the bus". Those who make decisions which impact the lives of others should really take a long walk in the shoes of those for whom they make those decisions.

If you're having any frustrations with theae transit related issues, the right place to contact is the City of Modesto Transit Services Division at 209-577-5295.

I give Modesto Area Express five stars, but at this point I give the City of Modesto a much, much lower rating (I personally feel really let down and really uncared for by them).
