Last night, Miami University Associated Student Government hosted a debate for this year's Student Body President candidates. The students discussed campus issues and were asked about their campaign platforms.

“When you’re able to see young people take advantage of what I have to offer and get better and knowing that is a seed that’s planted for the future — that they’re going to be able to build on that — is just thrilling and gratifying,” Kip said. “Just to have a couple of those types of sessions in a week offsets all the strain that comes otherwise.”

Seventh-seeded Miami basketball is moving on in the Mid-American Conference Tournament after defeating the 10th-seeded Ohio Bobcats 68-55 at Millett Hall on Monday. The win marks the first time the RedHawks have advanced to the second round since 2013.

A week and a half after Miami’s Interfraternity Council (IFC) announced a sweeping social suspension due to hazing allegations, 12 chapters are now cleared to operate as usual.

"If Noel, Oliver and Paul do choose to come here, we hope that hazing is something they hear stories about, not experience, that they don’t need an “It’s On Us” campaign to teach people about consent, that every student feels comfortable and welcomed here, no matter their sex, gender, nationality or religion, and that diversity is something Miami is known for, not something the school has to strive for."

Former Miami student Nora Husani founded Kode2Learn in May 2014. Since its inception, the club expanded its roster to 124 students.

In its last home series of the season, The Brotherhood - Miami University Hockey took five of six conference points from No. 12 North Dakota, beating the Fighting Hawks 4-3 in overtime.


The Miami Student hosted a public safety forum, City Matters, attended by Oxford and Miami officials.
The event, moderated by assistant news editor Ceili Doyle and editor-in-chief Emily Williams covered, topics including the Good Samaritan policy, recent hazing allegations against Miami fraternities and town-gown relations in Oxford.


This Monday, Student Body Presidential candidates Alex Boster, James Gale and Meaghan Murtagh will present and discuss their platforms at the Miami University Associated Student Government's annual debate.

Dayton’s Oregon District is usually known for its nightlife, but the historic part of town is also worth an afternoon visit.
Miami University Associated Student Government unanimously passed a bill to lower laundry prices in the residence halls last Tuesday.
After comparing the $3.50 Miami University students are paying per load to other Ohio public universities, which only charge between $2.50 to $3 per load, two senators saw no reason for the higher prices.
