Great place! If you are wanting to buy in bulk, reduce plastic use, shop locally and support a small business that supports the environment then this is the place to go! Friendly and helpful staff too!

Such a great shop for ethically sourced groceries, household items and most helpful of all...self-service loose grains, cereal, cooking ingredients, pulses, sundries and everything in between. Conveni...ently located near to the city centre, but away from the bustle of the main retail streets, the vibe of New Leaf is just right. See More

Great to see such a thriving hub for ethical food being run as a co-operative!
Highly recommend shopping from and volunteering at the New Leaf Co-op, I've loved it!

Ace co-operatively run purveyors of all manner of organic and fairly traded foods and essentials. Always fresh bread too from the growing number of artisan bakeries round Edinburgh.
Makes a change the big chains where all the revenue goes out of the city and we're lucky if they pay taxes at all. See More

I wish I could give 10 stars! Amazing, lovely, cute little place. Spent a fortune there on Monday and I'm coming back tomorrow with all my family to spend even more monies on ethical, organic goodies ...and vegetables. Staff was amazing, too! Wonderful customer service.. I can't stop saying nice things about this amazing hidden gem! See More

Plastic Free Progress....

We are now making our own nut milks - delicious (recipe below). With the remains we are making chocolate spreads! ...

It took me a wee while longer in the shop today and figure out what I could and couldn't buy but I am hugely grateful to New Leaf cooperative and their interactive shopping experience, without them we may not be able to do this experiment. Walking into any normal shop, garage etc, you realise as a plastic free shopper you can buy very little!

Still finding this entire experience exciting and joyful.. its the small things in life!

1. Soak oats, nut of choice over night

2. drain and put fresh water in, add cinnamon, honey, a pitch of salt and spices to taste

3. blend

4. drain out the bits and save them for your chocolate/nut spread.

And you have your nut milk - Taaa daaa

Chocolate spread - take left over bits, add honey, tahini, raw cocoa, cinnamon, a pinch of cardamon, a pinch of sea salt. You can also melt coconut oil with a wee bit of vanilla pod and put that in too.. - YUM!!!

Chocolate and banana - same as above and add banana.

You don't need all these ingredients you can alter it to your taste buds and what you have available!

VOTE NEW LEAF FOR INSPIRING CO-OP OF THE YEAR 2017 THIS CO-OPERATIVE FORTNIGHT! 🏆🏆🏆🌿🌿🌿 Love these guys and love the fact that we've been nominated for this award, it means the world to us. As a workers co-op with our eye on community values and always wanting to push the boundaries in terms of our ethics - with low packaging, being a good employer, promoting organics, keeping nearly everything vegan and offering good value - sometimes it feels like there's so much more to do. So being nominated for things like this is a massive reminder of how worthwhile it is, and how a little shop can actually mean a lot to folks in the community. Woohoo! 😍😍😍 ( is where you can vote for us and many other amazing, inspirational, new and established co-ops) #cooperative #workercooperative #ilovemycoop
