Ths staff are nice and friendly. Pero ang check in grabee ang tagal..okey fine I did not put in my reservation the request for early check in. So I hadto come back at 2 pm. I came like 2:07 to be exac...t I already paid and all but then the staff told me to sit down and wait. Other guests are coming and already check in and OMG it took me like almost an hour waiting to be check in. I approached rhe staff and smiled at me I asked what is going what took them so long for check in and simply answered me that they are still checking for the room what the____ an hour of checking the room??Other guests they already check in ecen if they just arrive and hello I paid cash same as the other guests.. sad to say I will never recommend this Hotel to my friends who are Filipinos kasi mukhang inuuna nila ang mga foreigners. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻😔😔😔😔

They love to say have a 💺 😜

So I visited MacArthur Park with my family earlier this morning when it suddenly started to rain. I decided to go to The Oriental to wait the rain out and have some breakfast. I arrived a little bef...ore 9:30 AM and sat at one of the tables near the pool area, it took us some time to get the attention of the staff. I asked about the breakfast buffet, the lady who approached us didn't know how much it costs so she called another staff member who knew. By the time the other staff member was able to entertain my inquiries it was already around 9:45 AM and I was informed that the breakfast buffet ended at 10:00 AM. I thought that it would be ok and that i'll just order à la carte. I was handed a menu but it was just the beverage menu because it turns out I can't order from the à la carte menu until lunch time. I couldn't believe it!

Is it true that I can't order from the à la carte menu before lunch??? What the hell is the kitchen staff being payed for??? What bothered me the most is that your waitress didn't even bother to confirm with anyone because she was very certain. What if a guest was hungry but doesn't want to eat from your buffet? I'm not sure how you are running your kitchen but that's just not good business. I had a hungry toddler with me. Needless to say I took my money somewhere else.

Any other hotel in the country would've served food off the menu regardless of the time. I am sure of it.

God bless Yellow Cab Pizza and God bless 24 hour room service!

We had a really “Wonderful Stay”. Nothing beats having friendly & accommodating staff to assist you.

Greetings with beautiful smiles coming from the hotel personnel was a great plus to the property ...aside from its Beautiful ambiance. We also loved our clean spacious room which had a sea view. Really great for families. Most of all we loved the Samsara Restaurant—the food we ordered were delish-thumbs up to the chef! Though we’re hoping to have more variety from the menu on our next visit , might need to offer more continental menu options to cater foreigner guests who are not a big fan of Asian food. And of course hats off to Samsara Staff- i remember during breakfast, one would stay at our table with our lil daughter as me & hubby get our food from the buffet. And also during dinner, we had amazing waiters assisting us the whole time (shame I forget their names-blame it on the baby brain ) , but really the staff made a big contribution in making the stay memorable. We also celebrated hubby’s natal day at Samsara. The chocolate cake was unbelievable & of course the Birthday Song from the restau staff- hubby had a great night! Thank you! Not forgetting the dance presentations at night which starts at 7pm-Loved the Fire Dance & Employees Dance Number! Also didnt miss to experience their Spa— good relaxing massage we had. Oh! only the swimming pool we didn’t get to swim, but maybe next time. Over all, we can highly recommend this place to everyone. Giving it a 5/5 knowing what its been through from Yolanda Typhoon to what it has become now is impressive-but like any businesses, improvements should never stop and I hope it’ll continue to be one of our fave places to go in Leyte. See More

Had a lovely evening celebrating 2018 Chinese New Year of the Dog. Buffet food served was just ok. Menu should have been consistent with the occassion.. was looking forward for a Chinese fresh lum...pia a must fare for Chinese New Year meal... Dissappointed it was only a stir fry of mixed vegies of your own choosing seasoned with Teriake sauce ( yuck) was asking for ground peanuts to enhance its flavor but none. Live entertainment Dragon Dance, in between Employees group dance Fire Dance cupped with Fireworks display were superb. Service was good .Diners were excited with the raffle prizes for the special occasion given to both kid and adult winners! My grandson won a day use of the pool with her mom. Overall its a lovely place but needs more improvement to make it Best! See More

I've always been an Oriental patron pre and post Haiyan. Always cheering them up because this is supposed to be the best resort in this side of Leyte. Staff ia helpful, I can dismiss the sometimes ine...fficient front desk. Facilities have been battered by typhoons. But the food has NOT improved at all. I remember in the buffet, they kept the "crispy pata" on display despite it being a mere bone. The last time we were there, buffet was not available so we ordered ala carte. Except for the soup, which I am sure came from a can, nothing sit well. The hainanese chicken was nothing close to the expected taste. Don't get me started on the pad thai. The shanghai was supposed to be fail-safe. But soggy rolls are not good. Pls improve the food. That's it. See More

very selective on who to charge things with. 2 of my relatives asked for extra keycards and they weren't asked for a deposit. i asked for an extra keycard and they want a deposit (we have different ro...oms btw).

also, they want to charge us for extra pillows. we only had 4 and there were 4 beds and an extra pull-out bed coz we were 5 in the room :/

It have been my/our biggest pleasure to stay here in your beautiful hotel.... This is a place that I/we never will forget, and though it's a cliche to say we will be back, then I say it anyway... Ever...ything is perfect here, specially your breakfast/lunch/dinner.... And the way you ALL here treat your guests is not seen many places...And not to forget all the special and exciting entertainment you do here... If I should say one negative thing about here, then it's your WiFi... Your internet here is VERY bad, specially in the rooms... But anyway, I love you all here, and I will give my recomandation to all that maybe are thinking to go to the Philippines.... In good memories and love, hope to be back next year... • Lovely place, food sucked.
• Ate at Sand Bar with fam during Thor’s concert
• Took 50 Minutes to serve our orders. ...
• Pizza is bad. Yummy Yummy along the street that’s worth 85 pesos only is better.
• Burger is cold with cold greasy fries.
• Clubhouse sandwich was okay, nothing special, again served with cold greasy fries.
• service water, oh my god. Served with used cup. DISGUSTING.
•Service is just as bad. Disappointing.

Great food, and the staff are super friendly, they were quick to sort any problems and always went the extra mile. I really enjoyed my stay, and would love to go back. The fire dance was a lot of fun.

I like: 1. Staffs are very courteous. 2. During the new year's eve buffet dinner, I suggested to change the music from very loud rave party to Michael Buble's songs. They listened. 3. There's this sta...ff named Eunel who returned my nephew's iPad which got lost in the middle of the new year's eve party. 4. New Year's Eve party was the best I've ever had. Great music, awesome fireworks, energetic fire dancers. Masaya!

I don't like: 1. During checking in, somehow the person behind us got served before us. New year naman so ayoko magtaray. Sinabihan ko lang sya na nauna kami kesa sa dalawang kinakausap nya at that moment. 2. Buffet dinner was not that great tasting pero di naman masama yung lasa. Nag expect lang ako kasi Oriental to and we paid 999pesos for that. Higher than the usual rate in town. Medyo di sya worth it. Ang sabi, till 12midnight ang food, pero di yun totoo.

Overall, okay lang.

Really gone down hill since my last stay before yolanda. Not sure if change of management was the cause but staff seem unhappy. Service is below average and food is way below average. Doesnt have th...e same atmosphere as pre 2014. Had some good times here years ago and the change is disappointing. Perhaps management needs to give staff a reason to be happy and helpful. If you want that a 5 star rating you need 5 star service with a smile See More

This property has been extensively renovated since the damage during the typhoon. The new decor is notable for combining elegant antiques, native crafts, and also modern pieces. I enjoyed the fire dan...ce show during dinner. Spa treatments were first class. Enjoyed body scrub and 90 minute signature massage. Ramon is the best! See More

I am so happy to see the hotel got finally back and even better now despite of what happened to it during Haiyan. Thank you LKY for coming back and for bringing back the historic Red Beach and the Mac...Arthur Landing Memorial Park more alive. I just live nearby and I could see how the hotel contributes for the beautification of the place, the tourism industry and the economy.

However, I have this observations that I would like to suggest for its improvement. After the supertyphoon almost 4 years ago, yesterday was my first time to be able to enter again the function hall of the hotel and upon opening the door/entrance of the hall to attend an event, I was dismayed to see the venue gloomy - it lacks the light inside that it needs to brighten it up. The audio-video was not also working well. These are my suggestions:

1. The yellow colored electric bulbs in the function room be replaced with "day light" bulbs to complement brightness and that additional lights be installed all over the place.

2. The stage lacks enough light that it needs to brighten it up for the audience to see the face of those on stage especially during shows. Spot lights and additional lightings need to be installed.

3. The sound system is not working well. It needs a more dynamic and powerful amplifier, speakers and microphones suitable for the hall especially on big events. During the activity I attended yesterday, the program got always interrupted because the mic and projector kept on failing to work.

4. The buffet for those in the hall should not be placed outside. For when lunch and dinner times come when the people in the hall have to go to the buffet set-up outside, the doors are opened causing the temperature inside to be hot.

Thank you.

We love the view, but all things has its own imperfections, (crews attitude, bathroom facility.) At least, the view is enough for us to have a good stay. Thank you, The Oriental Leyte.
