This is how a cop treated my intellectually and developmentally disabled sister tonight. He cornered her and screamed at her and she is still shaking. I repeat this cop cornered and terrified a disabled child. Share this video, with this caption far and wide. Let people know how the officers of the Littleton Police department treat disabled people."
So tell me....who thinks it’s ok that a police officer talked to my daughter with a disability like this!! Added a screen shot of the video where I can now clea...rly see his badge #9901 & his name plate, S. Keliiholokai. Now I’m prepared for when the Sargent from the Littleton Police call me back!!
***UPDATE***
Just got off the phone with the Sargent. He was sort of understanding but not really. 😡 Going to go file a formal complaint tomorrow at the station after I get off of work.

http://www.come-over.to/FAS/FASbrain.htm
“Damage to the brain from alcohol exposure can have an adverse affect on behavior. Alcohol exposure appears to damage some parts of the brain, while leaving other parts unaffected. Some children exposed to alcohol will have neurological problems in just a few brain areas. Other exposed children may have problems in several brain areas. The brain dysfunction is expressed in the form of inappropriate behaviors. Their behavior problems should be viewed with respect to neurological dysfunction. Although psychological factors such as abuse and neglect can exacerbate behavior problems in FAS, we are looking primarily at behavior that is organic in origin. To better understand FASD behavior issues, shift perspective from thinking the child "won't" to "can't." (Diane Malbin, MSW, Trying Differently Rather Than Harder.)”
“Sometimes the person's behavior is misinterpreted as willful misconduct (Debra Evensen), but for the most part, maintaining good behavior is outside of the child's control, especially in stressful or stimulating situations. Behavior problems in children with FAS are often blamed on poor parenting skills. While good parenting skills are required, even alcohol exposed children raised in stable, healthy homes can exhibit unruly behavior. The most difficult behaviors are seen in children who were prenatally exposed to alcohol and who also suffer from Reactive Attachment Disorder.” (My child in this video does also have the diagnosis of Reactive Attachment Disorder.)
“Most children with FASD have some attachment issues, display inappropriate sexual behaviors, show poor judgment, have difficulty controlling their impulses, are emotionally immature, and need frequent reminders of rules. As a result, many will require the protection of close supervision for the rest of their lives.”
⚠️⚠️⚠️ UPDATE added on 6/27/2019⚠️⚠️⚠️
Tonight I received a pretty amazing phone call from the Commander of the Littleton Police Department. Apparently someone sent him my video. And I’m happy to report that this officer and the Sargent I spoke with the night of this incident will be answering to their commander for their actions. He also offered to come over and see my kiddo to try and show her that not all officers are like this one. He also offered to have a female officer come talk to her. I told him that I would like to wait to do that until my kiddos therapist thinks it is appropriate. We talked at length about how he will make sure the officers will be getting some updated training. And I even offered to come speak to the officers myself as I work in a special needs school and have just completed 2 weeks of intense training on dealing with kids like mine on a professional level.
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of me and my family in this trying time!! And for recognizing the error of this officers actions!!
For those who have not been supportive, that I didn’t know, they are now blocked. My supposed friends who have been unsupportive have had their comments hidden. If you continue to be judgmental about something you don’t know anything about, I’ll be blocking you as well. I’ve got enough to deal with right now...I don’t need to see negative judgmental things come across my FB right now.
