This is miss a feminist issue. feminist issue prison evolution is a feminist issue and but I think that that taken to consideration fact that so many of the people at the Center of this crisis on the front of this crisis are are our women women of all racial backgrounds, poor women transwomen women, especially. Countries of the global cells and so I have to we should seize upon this as an as an opportunity to do the kind of organizing lenses the sense for international city. Yeah has the capacity to perhaps bring us out of our best citric slumber and and and Internalize that that we can take leadership from people who are organizing and other parts of domestic workers all over the world, losing their job of course, but the stay-at-home or those who care for people the for profit nursing industries the nursing home industry such as the outbreak that happened in in Washington and. And I just wanna say what gender violence and and and child abuse. It seems it seems ocean of staying at home is assume implant that that that that we can retreat to this kind of nurturing environment of this Russia but for force to spend 20 - four hours a day with their abusers unable to connect with those who have been their lifelines And women who are abused, I think this is this isn't upon this as an opportunity to kind of organizing that is going to end this our sense of belongs to the world and enhance our sense of the possible of moving beyond Capitol. Thank you so much for that Engel and just you know it's so important don't disappear the most of us particularly as mom what is front line workers or children folks who are survivors of domestic and sexual assault, and that in this moment would acquire. That we slangs of our people, they're hurting in this moment entering them. I just wanna as we sort of move to open up. the the include some of the other comrades. I think the both of you for framing sort of what is the what is your sacrament condition of obviously grown a virus, but the product of racial capitalism and how it's led us him and also toss about what is the opportunities and the possibilities that our movement must sees in order to not just meet the current moment also to be for what's to come and so just create. And I really see that action to all of us on this right now of what is required of us in this moment, so I'd like to invite in panelist and comrades either leaders George Cindy Weiser of Global, Just Laurie Smith Schell of the Work Families Party and Lauren of Envision Alliance, and we want to know that people across the country world are watching to follow this conversation use the hashtag online brought the majority, follow discussion and if you would be connected to get updates please text majority to. 975 so again, thanks for joining thanks to the to the three cameras and panels for joining us, we talk about this global Corona virus is how the response of Corona revivalists is impacting people internationally and so Cindy I'd like to post this this next question which is what else do we think about or paying a doing this as we look a look to what in the world so I handed off to you to to to share some of your thinking on this alright so honored to be in this dog in this conversation, I think to pick on a couple of points that Angela and Naomi made you know Antonio Graham, she writes a lot about crisis and it either goes opportunity to do something right wing and I feel that we have the opportunity to break the back of global meal or into a future of further authority. fascism. It's a non entity for everything the reorganization of societal level the very local from neighborhood all the way are our terror and to across the world and we have to be. This moment really reimagine and rethink and make sure the moment of so much deep troubles that we use that radical shift living across the world and inside it, States and direct with no sister water, no electricity for charity and policy seeing hand in hand, we will see levels of oppression being about Christian Democrats with the youth tourists action, and this is one of those moments not only working those immediate mask and and vendors and funds to hospital to grocery workers. We have to also take us No. War no militant and stopping the we need to end the same sanctions deaths. People are gonna die not Roanoke Verus but died and went to be in solidarity now more than ever people from I eat on swell from North Korean, Cuba Palestine and the 30 other countries that have sanctions against them. Number two. I think it's an opportunity for us to really think about how many move around the world and experimenting with. Alternatives to capitalism really thought about the needs of social movements have been putting out of empty as an altar food production right small harmful to the planet is what Latina says feminist economy the vibrant feminist movement around the emotion that has been of authoritarianism has been talking about a feminine for a feminist to me environmentalist in this people's have been talking about EJ community. I've been talking about regenerative honey indigenous people, the Andy's talking about when VA and different experiments are in socialism of the century and a moment for us to. See we need to the zoning patriarchal racist a system and and all of us across the world have been working those alternatives. We know how to serve the needs of people in Central different ways, and I think that's one of them that movement the world are talking about enter now that homicide of struggle is Angela. It's also the site of hope, but it's also a moment where reductive labor has medically because right from to our communities to our workplace, deductive labor of folks nervous. Now at the forefront of of saving the planet and I think that one of the things we need to really think of this moment to dismantle the patriarchal system that we live in because the responses of tornado and do they have all been patrolled the crisis and I think that we need to be aware that that measure we have the solutions the pick and its out of it and we Tories and knowledge and they're gonna take it and now they want to cut military, but from the low all the way the to the. And then they're being able to not build up corporate and see those and transnational corporations, but actually out the people in a moment. Where is what is intention that we need to be able to do that. we need to support home All we need to service and relief documented people for all. we need to be able to repeal repeal the authorization military be able to tell that we want not just this is the talk about thanks for just like censoring African international solidarity that victory product. Of global moving in this moment that we achieve a radical realignment of power, she even interracial capitalism if we build the type of glove mint around the world that is able and ready to to you know drastically realign power as it is so you you probably of different things from the need to Center the peak, not corporate executives, not the corporates not financial situation, so I wearing in more with the working families party. to this conversation, People have talked about stimulus bill and how. The needs of financial corporations and not Vanessa the needs of the people so we need to talk about sort of who's in office and this is an election year and so share a little bit about sort of what are the importance of this pandemic for this election? it could you speak about any of thinking that you have around what do we need to consider as a related election and that we're in a perfect you? thank you so much and it's honored to be a conversation with Tran Davis. So I just. Appreciate being in conversation at this time of crisis to the implications are profound traditionally movement lasers have built power power otherwise through face stations, you know as through you know canvassing at the doors or in our communities, they're small groups of people coming together or Mass rallies right the oceans we've connections we build relationship with the building block over and now we relationship the same way because after in case we have to observe in order to save our lives of people in our community, but we must adapt and. We are adapting engaging in communications and folks and digital organ right now using codes on our doors on our windows to our needs and whether or not you know, I can't hold it really well, we could hold we'll call with tens of thousands of like we're doing right now or we could raise our voices windows like many people world when we're going to have to adapt and we're gonna innovate in order to continue a bond relationships even as we're isolated, We're certainly not alone and this is a moment when. People on the far right and Republicans are calling for universal basic income and at the same time they're they're calling for grandparents essentially sacrifice himself. and so what that says to me is that the liberal capitalism is no longer making moment capital and the folks in Washington that props are in disarray and it'll do what's necessary in order to put the system and incidentally means providing some people released so be it. But this is a moment when our politics ship and clarity equal the working party and many of our. Developing new tactic for the moment because we cannot retreat in this moment how more than ever and you know we heard from the previous speakers, we need leaders that are accountable where people and not just the United States Booklist right, It's gonna be tug of war but to operations Christ of working people so social movements and social movements can play a cruel in that gap. what we need more and more people on the local and statewide level coming from social media and accountable means running for office had question. That's true that whether or not the energy better spent. Doing building Mass movements and our time actions in this moment, what we're seeing play out underscores why building electrical power is in this moment and if you will if Donald Trump as President, the federal response would look very different men at in hundred last the moral example, Governor Kemp and George has oil couple with this pandemic and people are going to die for his response now, just let that people are going to become an election Wisdoms in 2018. So. The only strategy in this moment we need rights rent strikes strikes strikes of a like like the The workout is striking, Instagram work and others. We need mutual aid on the ground and we're seeing a lot We need protest movements making goal demands wearing inspiring so affirming solutions to people who desperately need them but you need to translate all of that into electoral consequences. Working people must see the power and we simply don't have the luxury tool on on the table, including electoral tools. That's why we have to make sure that the Moxie actually continues and when I see mocratic Y I mean. We know that true democracy radical democracy bloom, right, so not just election day with turning 60 - five days civil society fully blooming in it refridgerator and uncertain. Nothing is given authority world will mimic and we need to ensure that the right wing tree does not use this moment as an opportunity and enough the the little symbol of democracy. we have left and so you know we we could look at taking place in degree and I guarantee you Donald Trump is paying We have to be vigilant, we have to from the Dream of American exceptionalism. This is truly a global movement just end by saying that you know the the current virus operate and the shelter efforts poses an aspect of our democracy and the voters of structure so specifically we're using in campaigns or were all vote from home, But we think that in sense, we might not be able to physically learn homes and we need to do that. All Americans have their ballots. Melton them enough time with. Could return that's in a number of ways it's just one concrete solution that could be able to be in November. So like this are absolutely what needs to happen during a great pool alignments, but and it's always really been spoken have either way. I think rising majority working families parties in the movement. you know we need to build a multi coalition in this we've never seen before or the court White right wing White supremacist alliance will use this crisis further entrench their power every year we reach out to Americans around bonuses and that's on the local level all the way up because we understand that. Power actually really milks continue to do that and we doing it and that appeal millions and millions of millions of people are trying to make sense of this moment. It's not simply moment moment folks on the left to talk to other people identify this. This is opportunity for lessons to inspire them and so I just I just wanna close just to encourage everybody to go to the rising majority website, where there's actual solutions will contain from the working family and other folks to get involved for example of. Box from home in order to engage all around the country and I invite you to join the movement and the other organized at the Rising majority that are doing the work that we need in order to weave together that cold. Thank you smile and to bring you low conversation and then we'll miss with with the last question to all the analyst, but you know we were admitted to building the rising and built because we need to build an anti racist left committed radical democracy and so you know I know loan that is broader this, but but say a few words about the bitches type. Asian is playing out during this crisis. Yeah. Absolutely. thank you hey and I think panel. Really appreciates dialogue you know Trump's anti-Asian and specific Andy Chinese rhetoric calling Cobi night in a foreign Chinese virus has been obviously very allergenic and uncensored and on a basic level kind of rhetoric, says it matter if age die from this pandemic but what this kind of rhetoric also says about Asian Okay. April are the casualties of Peerless wars. the catchy admit disasters and invite for extraction the casualties of occupation. Neocolonial both within the US borders and those asserted US empire all around them. It's okay of Asian people are ladies of unpaid work of exploitation Alitalia confinement of housing and and so I know that it's really clear all of those of us who are more coming into movement that they've anti-A so lays the basis of occasion for social and economic policy doesn't only kill Asian people killed all of us and and as others have already spent, especially those of us are vulnerable before the. who are living in occupied East who are living inside of presumption centers, you know with the reality of wages and dilapidated and facing police irons and ice H and so what yours that Trump's anti-Asian racism quite insidiously. It's hardly a new play ball crate, and we know that these so that will emerge from this unless we organize and will only continue to exacerbate the reality of a totally infrastructure of a democracy currently own works for the rich and then anchored. Increasing fashion we know anti-Asian racism full champion by Trump and his admission reveals what the crisis is. It's capitalism. It's reachable where White supremacy and anti-blackness and racism are the bedrooms and the other ring and deeming of ignoring this particular moment. It's a maneuver by the elite Board to hide what is actually truthful that right now, Multinational corporations like Amazon comes down to protect themselves. Save the massive famous so-called free market continuous fit while our people are forced to. Wait and die we've seen this kind of othering and before it faces answers and brothers that faces are undocumented loved ones is black, Brown and indigenous skin all across the country was built upon. you know some really murderous interpretation of Kubala wear and hoops, and so whatever we do, we really remember that not the fault of Asian or it's not the fault, people and people of color of migrant women of worst that we're facing a global pandemic. We haven't our fingers at the right times. We have to hold these institutions ago. We have to really build power to unsee institutions, which unreasonably get to determine who will get to live or die. I think it's fairly simple at the end of the Covid- 19 is capitalism as the crisis in our ordinary is the answer punctuated that you know for anyone's down who wants to bend the struggle in this moment and beyond to check out the rising majority. you can go to The Rising majority. Sign up for updates and you can also text up to nine zero 95 and for those who are connected to organizations will be hosting information soon in the fifth. I think everything that Releasing prisoners from religious housing that is now the floor. it is not the ceiling. so what's the new ceiling gonna be and and we're really hoping to fight for that. we're hopeful that folks will join us. Thanks so this this brings us to a sort of the club is teach and I wanted. I'm Angela David calling back into the conference. I mean we've we've heard a lot and in terms of what is happening, what are we up against but also what is required of us. what is the type of power we need to build so just wanna over you for for for final words message to the the thousands of tuned in right now, the rising majority leaders the organizers. Folks on the if you can't share any sort of final words that you for all of us that are look for what is part of us in this power look, though Naomi perhaps I'll start with you in the Angela Angela Davis. Oh, you're sorry well first. thank you for for to bow and loan and summer those fantastic ideas and and and they have real leadership moment a couple thought a lot of what I have know out about the transformative House I learned from living in our after Argentina's economy collapsed in 2001, went through five Pro three weeks and everything collaborate started building something the rebels and one of the things that that I I witnessed and and really changed me. A movement factories that were being by their owners being turned into workers cooperatives and I raise that because when we actually solidarity and I appreciate Cindy talking about how we need to learn from the in the global South and for communities but we also need to learn the factory patient movements. There's the a collapse small businesses and if we want to end up in a world where Jeff Bezos is the last man standing and what needs that is that workers who are working at. Restaurant closing and they also on that are all kinds of businesses that are have their over those workplace into operatives. I think that needs to be fighting for legislation that this is part of what it means so I I I just want to throw that out there. I have one other that that that I think is important is I think there's a cool digital organize going right now. what we're seeing is that we have a right to the Internet. It is a public utility, but right now it is hands of a few variations and about oppression and we. Authoritarian responses to this is includes the ability, unfortunately, unilaterally shut down our organizing when we're on corporate platform. you need to be aware of be ready for you know if we look at what has happened in their Modi and just lock it down cashmore access to Internet, we could be able to find eat without marks us permission and there's lots of ways that that to manifest, but I think it needs to be for mind at the same time as we fight a digital Commons as of of the transformation we need I wanna shovels Baylor at. Webs stimulus people can check that engine or you know these these additions that are putting forward some frameworks and other points. Let's remember a couple things. A lot of us are saying once each other, even as we spend a lot of unscreened, I think at the other end of this, you know personally, I spend less touch screens and time in community and face to face and I wanna live in a world makes that easier. Let's remember that we feel for campers and let's build an economy that values and lifts up and is rude. In if the need for one another, let's remember taking in nature of all of this in the spring and let's build us about the planet, it is possible it will all the tools that momentum the rent strikes. maybe Easter egg I don't hashtag so we're gonna have ways I think that are not less by Silicon Valley and yeah one of the that I that is hardest about this having a seven year old and enticing him to be afraid of people. Everybody's got germs is the exact opposite of the. That I try to teach him and I think we all know this is all been about, which is that we as people try to turn us against each other. We have to remember that and even as we isolate, we must reach towards each other and build maximum power because every line you know me you must for each other. Angela you to to share to all those listening and with as we close program. Well, thank you so much for giving us the happy to have this Exchange. I have learned you in this last and I'm aware of the fact that people are watching from thorough and I'm asking myself can create a conversation involving people of from Africa. Sarah from India. Of course, I'm I'm thinking about the fact. And in Brazil, the situation is far worse, it is here and I'm gonna talk about the cities between the the two leaders but but I do think that in the United States and my leadership people in places like Ohio and so who are shamed to creatively address this crisis they keep coming. Back to is the fact that the at this pill to live with a boundaries of Nations but nation States no longer function in a way that enhance as Imagination's, it is becoming increasingly elite. and that's what we're seeing so I'm really looking forward international global conversations and and organizing and these. To say over and over a digital organizing we need to be prepared to hit the ground when we're only able to comparison, we go to need massive visions and and move and supporting we're going to have to support all of the strikes and we have to try to create lasting formations that will and moving From this some capitalism other and toward a better so much. thank you to thank you Cindy and Moe and Loan all of the others are behind in rising majority. Thank you. Thank you so much Angela and thank you for always reminding us that we need both global and assist but also be global global thinking and organizing and that we need to continue to have these expanded so that we're engaging with movements from Brazil to South Africa. thank you for also. Clearly for everyone, says a moment of this is a moment of growing, but this is also to action when of crisis, but we are also in a moment us to be our boldest most and at our footsteps in moment, we will also we have requirements in the demand to more unified to be wind to work in such a powerful strategy to build the more children in our planet deserve but our children yet to be thank you everyone for for being here with around the world. I think a very brilliant the very Strawberry nail line and Angela Davis for. Your brilliance to comraderie Mitchell Cindy loan for bringing more just the analysis and the perspective, but again I wanna ask everyone who's joining with to continue. Follow this sensation online. We need to be in community practice love but each other so use that the hashtag Ryan majority to follow more conversations and more teaching. if you wanna be connected if you wanna get on digital text majority and I know nine, said majority to not five and also the rising majority bomb to just to date with with what's happened. I just wanna we know that people are scared. We need more dealing with just a challenge as moment will is he just to reach for each other. Well Asian community will aid us is the love that we have for each other and what will aid us knowing just how powerful we are and so thank you for joining us. We'll see you out soon.
