A translator offering to localize Hero-U asked for the word count. He was a little shocked when I came up with 600,000 words - about the length of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings combined. There's a reason this game is taking longer than we expected.
This isn't because Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption has the scope of Lord of the Rings, of course. It's because players have real choices and many alternative paths through the game events and dialogue. Interactive writing requires much more breadth than writing linear stories.
