Beautifully rustic, this gem is a step back in time. Picture a this... a turn of the century farm house, embossed tin ceilings with original wood floors. The walls are covered with vintage news papers..., and feature beautiful works of art by local artists. Breakfast is lovely in the little room so cozy and warm. Scones and other home baked pastries compliment the menu. Vreelands offer local eggs at breakfast and you must try the Duck Bacon Mac & Cheese for lunch. I haven’t had dinner there yet. That will come next. As I mentioned there’s a little room, once you go into the larger dining area the first thing you counter is an enormous bar, the staff is very friendly and the place is spotless. Vreeland store also prides itself as as. Bed & Breafast as well, as musical entertainment on the weekends. See More

Beautifully restored historic building with fantastic baked goods and good food! It takes you away to Vermont or New Hampshire 'Jersey style! The waitress staff has improved and the service is now goo...d too. They also have some good live music by excellent local musicians. It's a win win all around! See More

I really wish I could write a good review but from someone who works in the hospitality industry this place severely lacks that. I will say I love the ambience of this place and there menu is is grea...t with local ingredients which is amazing. I did eat here once before and my meal was delicious. This time I was excited to go back. I ordered coffee to start and when it came out it was not good at all. I drink it black and it left an awful taste in my mouth. I tried to get someone's attention and the women seemed annoyed that we interrupted her sweeping. I politely told them the coffee didn't taste right to which I received a look, 'ok we just made a new pot, it's the same coffee we always use, I'm not sure what to tell you?' An apology would've worked well, an offer to make another pot to see if that would be better would've been another nice gesture. But no, instead it was a take it or leave it attitude. So we surely left it, cancelled the order and went on our way to the deli to get coffee which tasted just fine. And now we'll eat elsewhere. Thanks. See More

The Vreeland Store takes you back in time. I Loved it the moment I walked through the door. From the delicious desserts to the delicious Menu. The staff was so kind and helpful. The Owner Fran is one ...of a kind. She is a Fantastic host. This family owned business is exactly why I chose to walk through the doors. My next visit I will be taking a tour of the upstairs which is also a Bed and Breakfast. I Loved it!! See More

Spectacular food and pastries with a side of local history and charm. The staff was amazing as well. I'm going to make this a regular on my list of eateries. It's well worth the 30-minute drive from m...y home town. See More

Love everything! Best margaritas around! Food is fantastic. I had a cuban, Nick had chili and a grilled cheese. It sounds simple, but there is nothing simple about the food in the vreeland inn. On our... way out we grabbed some sweets and two scones. I can't wait to go back. See More

It's a great off the beaten path place. A real "country Inn" feel. Food was great and it was hard to decide on only one thing.
One issue...a restaurant should not use Fabulouso to clean while patron...s are eating. Not exactly an appetizing smell. We will definitely come again when in the area. See More

This place is the worst! Service is slow, full of attitude, especially from 16 year old workers, and complete ineptness! Easy food, nothing exciting on the menu. I'm not buying into your country sc...htick... keep it, my dears. If you're a good looking guy, they'll flirt with you, though. See More

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious brunch (tall and perfect Bloody Marys!) that was fresh and fast. Service was excellent, our bill was only $30, and the ambiance was antique perfection. We will be ...back again and again. A West Milford gem! See More

We were in the area for a football game & I wanted to celebrate my husbands birthday. This place was perfect to have dinner and drinks & have a place to sleep. Everyone was so friendly, food was delic...ious & loved the cafe in the morning. Soon as we got to our room I said this is bringing me back to my childhood with the Newhart show! Very historic & very clean! Was shocked at the amt of room we had. Big bedroom, living room & bathroom. Thank you for a great visit! See More

We live close by and finally got a chance to stop in for brunch. The food was excellent and the atmosphere made us feel like we were away on a mini vacation in Vermont. As for the service, think of th...e service at a small Vermont eatery, and not a NYC restaurant; it's very homespun and human, not glossy and on edge. This place is totally chill, and we're so happy to see a going business in the historic Vreeland store. It's been a long time coming. Check it out, by all means! See More

So. I happen to share a surname with this establishment. Thought a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon with one of my daughters would be to pay a visit for a sandwich and some coffee.

We arrived to ...find the cafe jammed. Nice to see on a crisp November midday. There was no guidance about finding a table ("Please seat yourself", "Please wait to be be seated"... whatever).

We found a cramped table in a corner of the bar area. I have no issue with that... the place was rockin'.

It took ten minutes for a server to come to ask what we'd like. "A menu?" I replied.

Shortly thereafter, and after delivering two glasses of water and a coffee, she took our lunch order. We asked for a ham/smoked gouda panini and a chicken quesedilla.

What's a reasonable wait for a sandwich at 1:30 on a Sunday? When 45 minutes came and went, I asked our server to pack our order to go (we had budgeted an hour and 10 minutes before we had to be somewhere else).

When two folks who came in ten minutes after we did were served sandwiches at the bar -- and with our server still MIA -- we walked out (after leaving $5 on the table for the really poor coffee).

I was terribly disappointed in our experience. Yes, there are plenty of other reviews here on Yelp and elsewhere that point out the serious service issues at The Vreeland Store, but that compliment the food. Alas, we didn't even get to try a sandwich.

Went to the Harvest Moon Party...not much of a party! Food was good but the service was the worst I have ever experienced. I believe it was the owner who waited on us. One of my Party asked what kin...d of soup she had, she didn't know but was going to find out. Took our order but didn't come back about the soup for about 20 minutes. One of us ordered a cup of coffee, it came 10 minutes later with no cream or sugar. Asked for cream and sugar which came 15 minutes later so the coffee was cold. Sent the coffee back, it was returned several minutes later, reheated not even a fresh more cream!
As we were sitting at an outside table in the dark, she was supposed to go get a lighter to light our candle.......never came back. When the soup info finally came my cousin didn't care for any of the choices so she ordered a sandwich. All our food finally arrived, except hers. She decided to cancel the order so she told the server more then once she no longer wanted it. When we all were finished eating and ready to ask for a check, out comes the sandwich that we cancelled 30 minutes ago. The owner/server said the order went in late which, at that point we were so annoyed, she was told that it went in late because she never came back for 20 minutes to tell her about the soup so it was her fault the order went in late. She said she was sorry about the poor service but EVERYONE called in sick and she was short staffed. Instead of some kind of compensation for the service and reheated coffee, all she gave us was excuses. When we finally got the check, we could hardly see it because we sat in the dark all night because she never came back to light our candle!

While the food wasn't bad, the service was awful and as the owner she should have offered more then an 'I'm sorry'. Terrible customer service and terrible experience for us. Will never go back again!
