So, who owns Tokhouse Tokyo Vacation Rental?
Well we do, Tokhouse K.K. which is owned by Richard Ashley who has lived in Japan since 1995.
The gigantic, multi billion dollar transaction platforms have been trying to convince travelers otherwise. It simply is not true....
They are online transaction platforms or advertising market places that insert themselves between guests and hosts.
They are in the business of collecting fees from owners and guests, period. They have nothing to do with running the actual property or taking care of guests.
To achieve this they block all direct communication between guest and hosts for the purpose of ensuring they collect their fees. Fees which are in general non-refundable.
On sites that have collected thousands of dollars from owners for advertising they have decided that it is in their best interests to also block direct communication until they have collected their fees.
They change the rules and terms as they please irregardless of the original agreements with owners.
They try to convince the public that it is safer to use their platform than booking direct with the owner. This is simply not true. A quick web search of the name of any of these platforms followed by complaints and you can read the long list that bears this out.
All it really leads to is forcing owners to raise rates on their platforms to compensate for the cost of fees and lousy exchange rates.
Join the movement to book direct and save to let everyone know the reality behind these big corporations and save across your social media platforms.
Give back the control to the guests and owners to do business directly and post #bookdirect www.tokhouse.com
Akihabara has returned to closing down the highway on weekends.
Something for everyone.
