Happy trails this summer and be safe!! Also a new update is now available from the AppStore and google play.
An update for the App is scheduled in the next week or two. The update includes new rules around parking at Mangatepopo carpark, and alternative transport options for anyone wanting to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
For those who plan to use their own cars to get to the Crossing. Please be aware DOC will be introducing a 4 hour time limit on parks at the Mangatepopo Carpark (Start of the Crossing) this summer. This new rule does not apply to the Ketetahi Carpark (End of the Crossing). We suggest you use a shuttle for transport, its easier.
Check this out!!!! This is exactly what you need after a massive day on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing!

A SAR job in Tongariro National Park yesterday. The image shows a long line used to do the job. The article mentions a winch operation on a "sleep" slope.
Anyway LandSAR volunteers helped to get the job done.

The apps about to get an update in the next week. We have put more information on what to do in an emergency. The team would like to give a special thanks to Simon, the local LandSAR team and Police for all their help with this.
We have also given the Before you go section a redesign. Should make it a lot easier to navigate. As well as some new pics.
Had a fantastic few days at National Park. Up with the sun and out walking to make the most of the awesome weather. We stayed at the Discovery Lodge Tongariro camping ground to recover and hit the mountains again early the next day. Amazing weather to walk the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
Want to put a shout out to the team at Umajin. Umajin is an IT company based in Palmerston North, New Zealand. They developed the app builder we used to make the TAC App with. Have to say, using the Umajn app builder made the whole process a lot easier. Their tools allowed us to see how our app would look on multiple devices while develping it. They also have an add menu for buttons, images and links and a whole bunch of other stuff, which made putting the app together supper easy. Thanks
