Vinyl is Coming and Turning in Full Circle!
If you're born in the 60s or 70s, you must have experienced the look, size, scent, and brown paper packaging of an LP (Long Play) or Vinyl record, from your parents. Or maybe you bought one yours...elf until the mid 80s, mesmerized by the crackles or pops from a used needle. Until, it met the steady decline of demands because of emergence of digital recording in a format of CD (Compact Disc).Then Internet has invaded the general household which led to digital download or MP3s... Step on it my friends, for the love of Rock! The orange Boss pedal (DS-1) extensively used by Nirvana's Kurt Cobain!
Thank God for this analog chorus pedal which arrived today! It's a vintage 80s Ibanez CS-9 (Made In Japan). This will certainly keep me up for the whole night. Its luscious, slush, shimmery, warm and warbling tone, is a piece of my own nirvana.
If you can identify more than half of these illustrated rock icons, you're a certified rock aficionado! So, work on it my friends... Have fun!

Today in 2012, I wrote a song about my unforgettable summer with a kindred soul. A short but meaningful close encounter with a beautiful woman named Dawn. Unb...eknownst to the former (that it was actually written about her), she helped me finalized the song structure with her clever usage of words.
Hence, the first EP of The Torn Images was a tribute to her, and was aptly called "The Dawning." Upon its release on March 2013, the said EP generated positive reviews from music critics and various social media. The first single "Scent of Summer" even peaked at number 14 in an online Radio Airplay on May 2013.

Described by the build...er himself as, “a modern take on a classic fuzz cased in a huge housing, and completely covered in a fuzz. It is arguably the most eye-catching pedal currently (or ever?) available on the market. No need for LED, you’ll know when it’s active!”
Yes, indeed! When I hooked this pedal, turned on my amp, and adjusted the volume/tone controls of my Tele; my body was embraced with unadulterated, savage fuzzy goodness. Truly offered a warm 60’s vibe, as also aptly described: “with controls pegged at 100%, the pedal drives into harmonic overload producing overtones usually associated with several thousand dollar rigs.” I paired it with my Boss MO-2, and it’s a perfect match Made in Heaven!
And lastly, this pedal is a collector’s item. It’s rare that only 40 of these monsters have ever been built, and aside from a call a multi-platinum artist, no more will ever be made. I played the serial number 9 of the 40!

The Way of The Torn Images
Most guitar players focus their technique based on speed, nothing but a flutter of modal notes, and thinking it's the only way to progress - Virtuosity. Yes perhaps it's half the truth, but these lightning speed ...delivery of unwanted notes has obliterated the most important thing in music - the Feel!
As a guitarist, I put more emphasis on different factors - tone, melody, structure, and rhythm. Every note is well-regarded, respected, and memorable as part of a whole song. I'm not skilled with the lightning speed of Sergiy Putyatov or in the flashy fashion of otherworldly Jimi Hendrix. But I tried not to be like them, or emulate their styles. I'd rather have the simplicity of Bernard Sumner (of Joy Division/New Order), and the one note approach of Neil Young. Emphasizing the very essential element in music - the Feel, the Real Emotion!
Thus, I strive for one invaluable lesson as an artist, and that is- to be True to Myself! Meer weergeven

Jerry... Wah-Wah... Whoa!!!
Another product of my G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) is a signature Wah pedal from one of my guitar heroes, Jerry Cantrell (lead guitarist of Alice In Chains). It's Dunlop JC95 Special Edition, built at Jerr...y's request for the AIC "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" tour. Modeled after the guitarist' darker, wider sounding wah-wah tone.
I couldn't resist to play AIC's "Man in the Box" with the widest grin painted on my face. Oh yeah! Boom chika wah-wah!!! Meer weergeven
