🐓The Light Movement🐓 ・・・ 🔥All animal "products" involve suffering and death. All of them. We should be crystal clear that the only rational response to recognizing the moral status of nonhumans is to go vegan. If animals matter morally, then any exploitation―however supposedly ‘humane’―is immoral. To say that being ‘compassionate’ requires that we promote something other than veganism is to say that we are morally obligated to promote immorality. That makes no sense. If you agree that animals matter, veganism―and only veganism―is what makes sense. - ▪️It doesn’t matter if exploited animals had the best lives in the world. Killing an animal so you can eat the animal or wear the animal is wrong. - 🔹There is no "humane" animal use. There is no ‘right’ way to exploit the vulnerable. Stop trying to think of how you can do morally that which you cannot do morally. - 🙏🏿LIVE VEGAN

With over 50 billion chickens killed in the animal farming industry every year,

Most of them are either killed the very day that they're born (male chicks in the industry)....

Or at just 42 days old (broiler chickens).

We must support the likes of Toronto Chicken Save.

Those who show the world the truth and show at least some compassion to the most exploited land animals on the planet.

Yes this is right. We need to stop killing chickens and other animals. Because even they have right to live freely

Vegan for her 💔🐓

The Light Movement

‘An investigator found some birds were so lame and deformed they could only “drag themselves to the food and water troughs by their wings”, while others “stood motionless, too dazed or dying to move”.

The poor birds live in these windowless sheds for just 35 days before being unceremoniously grabbed by their legs and sent to be gassed, then chopped into nine pieces and shipped to KFC branches.

Try and turn that into a funny meme.’

Fried chicken lovers are in meltdown this week as hundreds of takeaways have run out of chicken and closed their doors. Delivery problems meant 646 of KFC’s 900 UK outlets were shut on Tuesday morning. Fans have flooded social media with amusing memes about how upset they are to be missing out on ...

Meat & dairy consumption are destroying the world's wildlife.

Free from Harm is with Jolene Nel and 6 others.

Animal agriculture is now recognized as the number one cause of habitat loss in wildlife species, and the leading driver of species extinction. Additionally, at... the behest of the meat and dairy industries, government agencies target and destroy tens of millions of wildlife animals every year, globally: https://freefromharm.org/agriculture-e…/meat-dairy-wildlife/

These animals are legally killed via the most gruesome methods imaginable: poisoned, gassed, gunned down from helicopters, blown apart by cyanide canisters, strangled to death in neck snares, and caught in torturous leg-hold traps in which they languish and slowly die.

In the Western U.S., thousands of terrified wild horses are chased by helicopters for miles till they are corralled in holding pens, in which many are euthanized and the rest exist as prisoners while more and more cattle are unleashed on public lands.

Unfortunately, as our new article details, animal agriculture’s war on wildlife isn’t just limited to the U.S. It's time for the world to wake up to the ways meat and dairy consumption are devastating free-living animals everywhere.

A Well-Fed World

A common misconception we encounter is, "If the world went vegan, we wouldn't have enough land to grow crops to feed everyone!" In reality, a diet that includes... animal products requires *far* more land than a plant-based diet. Global animal agriculture currently raises and slaughters some 70 BILLION land animals for food every year. Think about all of the land needed to house, graze, and grow feed crops for 70 billion animals.

By comparison, it takes drastically less land, water, energy, and crops to grow plant foods for 7 billion humans. In fact, a United Nations Environment Program analysis of global agricultural yields finds that better use of existing croplands could feed 3.5 billion more people simply by shifting away from growing crops for animal feed and instead growing crops for direct human consumption. Reallocating croplands in this way could increase available global food calories by as much as 70 percent, according to researchers.

In a recent article for The Guardian, "Goodbye— And Good Riddance— to Livestock Farming," environmental journalist George Monbiot notes, "Almost all forms of animal farming cause environmental damage, but none more so than keeping them outdoors. The reason is inefficiency. Grazing is not just slightly inefficient, it is stupendously wasteful. Roughly twice as much of the world’s surface is used for grazing as for growing crops, yet animals fed entirely on pasture produce just one gram out of the 81g of protein consumed per person per day.

...That vast expanse of pastureland, from which we obtain so little at such great environmental cost, would be better used for rewilding: the mass restoration of nature. Not only would this help to reverse the catastrophic decline in habitats and the diversity and abundance of wildlife, but the returning forests, wetlands and savannahs are likely to absorb far more carbon than even the most sophisticated forms of grazing.

The end of animal farming might be hard to swallow. But we are a resilient and adaptable species. We have undergone a series of astonishing changes: the adoption of sedentarism, of agriculture, of cities, of industry.

Now it is time for a new revolution, almost as profound as those other great shifts: the switch to a plant-based diet... It’s time to abandon the excuses, the fake facts and false comforts. It is time to see our moral choices as our descendants will."

"...they go in there and tomorrow they will all be gone…10.000 pigs a day…please think about it…"- Annmarie MacFadden. Go vegan and get involved! Bear Witness with us on Thursdays 8:00 am- 10:00 am @ Fearman's "Pork" Inc., 821 Appleby Burlington(near Appleby Go train station).

"The graph below is from the book, Harvesting the Biosphere: What We Have Taken from Nature, which looks at both the historical and current impacts of human consumption activities on the plants, animals, and other life forms that compose the Earth’s biosphere.

Among the most pressing of these is the impact to wildlife ecosystems that results from the disproportionate use of natural resources required to produce animal-based foods: it takes far more land, water, and energy to ...raise and slaughter some 70 billion land animals annually (and to grow the crops to feed them) than it would take to grow crops to feed 7 billion humans directly.

A result of clearing all this land for cattle, sheep, and other farmed animals is that ‘livestock’ production is now the single greatest driver of wildlife habitat loss. It is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, and water pollution. Indeed, scientists now agree that a mass extinction of species is rapidly underway; they are calling it the Sixth Great Mass Extinction of Species on Earth, with up to 200 species going extinct every day. And it’s being caused by us."
