Acupuncture has been my saving grace for spasms and pain management. I'm so thankful for my acupuncturist, Jason Sargis, and his incredible demeanor and expertise. I highly recommend his practice to a...nyone with chronic pain. He tends to your medicinal needs while providing a spa-like experience. His home base is in Cedar Grove, but spends Fridays at HackensackUMC Health & Wellness center in Maywood! See More

AcuTalks is with NJ Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Jason Sargis.

You and other healthcare professionals should talk about the topic of Dry Needling, its impact on the Acupuncture profession, and what true healthcare collabora...tion means.

We interviewed Jason Sargis, President of NJ Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to learn more about the topic

Recently, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine released a statement, sharing how "some physical therapists and other healthcare providers have claimed that “dry needling” is “new” and “not acupuncture”, because the point locations and needling style are based on anatomical structures and physiological function rather than on traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture theory.

In fact, licensed acupuncturists receive training in the application of both traditional foundations of acupuncture and modern biomedical theories, and have done so since long before the term “dry needling” was invented".

Because Dry Needling is an advanced and invasive procedure, we should continue to discuss the regulations around dry needling courses, requirements and training.

We hope this interview encourages more conversation around safe and effective quality healthcare and corrects any misrepresentation of Acupuncture. We also hope it motivates healthcare professionals to collaborate and continue practicing as experts in their respective fields.

While acupuncture enjoys a tremendous amount of clinical and basic science research for pain, what's excellent about this review is that it's the first to show ...based on thousands of patients that acupuncture's effects persist a year after treatment has ended. Amazing stuff!

Not only does that suggest that acupuncture is healing the cause of the pain and not just providing temporary relief, but it means that it's much more cost-effective than originally appreciated.
