Alex Salazar, the owner, waited until I got there even though he was close to closing.
He showed me the different types of mangoes, and since I kept asking questions, he basically gave me a class on ...mangoes. Great place! So many to pick up from the ground. See More

This is the Nishikawa avocado, a variety that originated in Hawaii with B-type flowers. It has a very rich, creamy nut flavor with good oil content. A medium sized fruit and it does produce here in Florida, maturing in October/November. #avocado #fruit #tropicalacresfarms #westpalmbeach #Hawaii #nishikawa #avocados #goodfats #rawfood #eatlocal #florida #soflo #freshfruit #delicious #food @ Tropical Acres Farms, Inc.

Providence mango. This cultivar was named by Walter Zill of Boynton Beach, FL and is likely a Kent seedling. The season mimics Kent but the fruit are larger and develop more color, with superior flavor. #mango #tropicalfruit #tropicalacresfarms #fruit #westpalmbeach #florida #boyntonbeach #soflo #eatlocal #rawfood #providence #delicious #freshfruit #farm

Mallika. This mango is from India and a cross between Neelam and Dasheri. It is typically picked green and allowed to ripen off the tree, developing a uniquely delicious honey citrus note. Mallika trees are moderately vigorous growers and perform quite well in Florida.

This mango is called 'Marlys', and it is a seedling of the Zill-80 mango from the property of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, FL. It turns a beautiful red color and is shaped similarly to Haden, but is more of a mid-season fruit and no fiber. It has a classic Florida mango flavor that many here appreciate. #Mango #tropicalfruit #tropicalacresfarms #marlys #boyntonbeach #tropicalacresfarms #freshfruit #westpalmbeach #eatlocal #soflo #florida #fruit #rawfood #delicious #palmbeach #miami #usa #tropicalfruit #yummy #healthyfood #vegan #vegetarian #fitness

This is Zillate, a later-season mango from the Zill family of Boynton Beach, FL . It is speculated to be a cross between Palmer and Tommy Atkins. It is fiberless and tastes better than its parents though! These trees are good producers of large, beautiful fruit but Zillate isn't a well known variety.
