What a WONDERful night!
Thank you to the Tuscarawas Philharmonic's Children's Chorus for lending their beautiful voices to us, for Dr. Patel from Akron Children's Hospital for providing important medical insight, and for Sam Drazin of Changing Perspectives for sharing his powerful story of living with a craniofacial difference and bringing WONDER to life. It's been a great season of choosing kind this fall, and we are so thankful for the support and affirmation our community gave our One Book, One Community project.
Thank you to our friends at New Philadelphia City Schools for inviting Sam Drazin in for an unforgettable program this afternoon that helped to bring WONDER to life for 700+ students! One more stop at Founders Hall tonight at 7PM as we wrap up One Book, One Community 2017!
Our fantastic guest speaker, Sam Drazin, spoke to over 700 middle schoolers from several different districts this morning at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas as part of today's One Book, One Community events for students. Participants got to hear him talk about his life growing up with a craniofacial difference, were given the opportunity to try on his hearing aids, and asked lots of insightful questions. We are so grateful for this chance to bring WONDER to life for these students and look forward to Sam's talk tonight at KSU's Founders Hall at 7pm!

What a wonderful evening at the Dover City Park last night to celebrate Auggie's birthday! Winners from the One Book, One Community poster contest visited the Dover Public Library StoryWalk® located around the park's pond to see their beautiful work displayed. There were even cookies from Buehler's with the perfect shade of blue frosting to match the book cover! Be sure to stop by the park within the next week to check out their fantastic work for yourself. Tuscarawas County kids are both kind AND talented! We are so proud of you!
Celebrate another successful One Book, One Community program with us. The evening will feature a powerful presentation by Sam Drazin, a Vermont-based teacher and founder of the disability awareness foundation, Changing Perspectives. Mr. Drazin lives with Treacher-Collins Syndrome, a similar craniofacial anomaly as WONDER's main character, August Pullman. He will offer enlightening perspective to listeners on his experiences growing up with the condition and tie it into the ch...allenges and triumphs that Auggie faced in WONDER.
An unforgettable performance from the Tuscarawas Philharmonic's Children's Chorus and a special introductory note from Dr Niyant Patel from Akron Children's Hospital will also be featured at this free event.
Tickets are NOT required. Refreshments will be provided. The program will take place in Founder's Hall at Kent State University's Tuscarawas branch.
