Workshop III of the Iraq Fellowship Program began in Tokyo with a courtesy call to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which generously provides financial... support for the programme. Twenty-five Fellows, Coaches, and UNITAR staff met with Mr. Kotaro Katsuki, Director of the Global Issues Cooperation Division, and Mr. Hitoshi Nakamura, Deputy Director of the Second Middle East Division, during the courtesy visit. Mr. Katsuki commented that he appreciates “the gender parity and diversity among Fellows.” He encouraged Fellows to learn while in Japan and to implement their projects in Iraq following the completion of the training program.

Workshop III of the UNITAR Iraq Fellowship Programme continued in Hiroshima with a visit to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Fellows could relate to Hi...roshima’s struggle towards peace after destruction in World War II, and they found it an inspirational place for all those who are working for peace. Yesterday marked the first workshop session in Hiroshima, where Fellows presented their findings from their needs assessment conducted in Iraq. Throughout the workshop in Hiroshima, the Fellows will work on developing their project proposals further with the support of Coaches and UNITAR staff.
