We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to school with our Annual History Society Book Auction!

The auction will be hosted by the talented and widely acclaimed history profs, Professor Vance and Professor Stewart. These two will sell books and fun history items to participants. Bring cash for auction items if you want to purchase any (trust us, you will).

There will be free pizza so bring your friends! This event is open to all students at Western.

Happy new years, historians!

The Grand Theater in downtown London was kind enough to reach out and offer a 20% discount to all history department students for their upcoming show.

The story follows focuses on an important Canadian woman, Mabel Gardiner Hubbard and follows the development of her relationship with Alexander Graham Bell. As Mabel was deaf, the play will be featuring numerous actors from the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

Thanks to everyone for joining us on our day trip to Dundas and Hamilton. It was engaging for all participants and we hope to see everyone on the trip next year!

The History Society annual field trip is tomorrow! In 1982, Robert Wardhaugh sat down to play a game of Dungeons & Dragons. Thirty-five years later, that same game is still going strong.

Fellow Historians,

The Annual UWO History Society Field Trip will be happening on Friday, November 3rd. We will be transporting participants to tour some unique historical spots in Ontario. This year, we will be visiting the Dudas Museum, the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, and the Whitehern Historic House and Garden.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to this event here, or email We will be stopping along the way for and dinner so make sure to bring money for food (and souvenirs). Pictures are highly encouraged so get your insta ready. Most stops will be indoors, so dress comfortably.

This event is open to all students, no matter what faculty! However, to help cover costs, you must be a member of the UWO History Society (only a $10 fee). Beyond that, the field trip and all entrance costs to the site and transportation are provided.

The Mirror, Western's undergraduate history journal, is currently looking to recruit assistant editors for its 38th edition! Specifically, we are looking for editors to read submissions and thoroughly edit essays which will be coming from a number of Canadian Universities.

Not only does this position help improve the scope of your resume, but it also helps you to become a better reader and editor!
