Calling all Superheroes!

This fall, we have been selling kids' super hero capes as a school shoe fundraiser for orphaned primary school children in Zambia. Ever...y January, my super human friend Angela buys hundreds of pairs of shoes for the children who attend her preschool and elementary schools in Zambia's capital city of Lusaka. A pair of school shoes is a necessary part of all Zambian school uniforms and a crucial barrier to infection during the December - March rainy season.

$10 from every $30 cape we sell goes toward Angela's school fund. Canada-wide shipping is included in the price. So far we have raised $250 for these sweet little feet but I would be delighted if we could sell 50 more capes - bringing our total to $750.

The following photos are of Super Kid capes ready to ship. If you order before next Monday - they'll even beat Santa to your house These capes make great Christmas and birthday gifts, are awesome teaching tools for kindergarten classes, and help encourage our little people to be kind humans who use their super powers for good. The capes are one-size and work well up to age 5.

Please help us be a Superhero to Angela so we can put shoes on all those little feet.

(Sharing this post is both welcomed and encouraged)

Mighty Sariah
3-year old Sariah is a fun-loving kid. She likes sports (particularly if her brother is playing) paw patrol (particularly if her brother is watching) and food (particularly if anything is served) especially sweets and "canee " She has a tendency to pick up rocks and sticks on the way to the bus stop every day so her pockets are always full! Sariah loves wearing pretty dresses – her favourite one has a tutu bottom – and playing with her princess castle.

Our Sari...ah #mightydoll comes with a bag full of sticks and rocks with enough room left for a few lollipop treats. Her own Paw Patrol pup badge features a lollipop on the front demonstrating her sweet personality and love for all things that fall into the candy food group. She has a sparkly princess crown and baseball dress with a tutu bottom.

This is the kind of joy that new shoes bring: ear to ear smiles, an inability to sit still and utter delight. Supporting our super cape project means more sweet little soles get new school shoes for the start of the new school year in January and more children get to feel like this. This is the best kind of guilt free shopping. Help us spread the joy for just $30 a cape.

Day 3: These charming potato print cases are perfect for all sorts of things: #toiletries, pencil cases, small toy pouches, wrangling wayward #jewelry. Each 10” x 7” case has one outside pouch and one main zippered pouch with lots of space for all your bits and pieces.

Clarina - artist, mum and entrepreneur - designed these fun pouches for everyday use. She's spent the last few years sewing wallets, table cloths and cushion covers with the beautiful Zim...babwean potato print fabric and sells her creations at the weekly market in Lusaka. The fabric is stamped by hand and imperfections in the design are all part of its charm. Your $20 purchase not only helps Clarina support her children but helps drive her dreams as an artist and savvy Zambian entrepreneur.

Earlier in the fall we sold 13 beautiful handmade bags as a fundraiser to buy sewing machines for a group of deserving girls at Zambia’s Seko Home for Orphans. Thanks to your incredible generosity, three machines were purchased and as the photo shows, are already doing great work. My super human friend Angela who runs Seko Home writes: “From the photos you will see happy faces looking forward to sew their own clothes.” #feelgoodshopping #consciousconsumer #sewingforchange #sewingmachine #zambia #ubuntucollective
