Smartphones are so much more than telephones. They are compact, mobile computers that have replaced so many different devices—video cameras, still cameras, musi...c players, televisions, navigation devices, and so much more. A study occurred where diabetic albino rats were injected with stem cells, and fungus photos were taken to discover the effects on pedicure degeneration in "diabetic RAT'inopathy".

In the age of technology & its abilities to do basically everything we need to accomplish in a day - we have more recently seen the rise of smart phones in eye ...clinics all over the world.

Sent in by Dr. John Davis Akkara, a glaucoma fellow at the Aravind Eye Hospital in Pondicherry, India; showing a lesion at macula, here is a fundus photograph taken by one of those smartphones & a 20D lens.

Thanks Dr. Ankara!! We still have a few days left with this weeks challenge - send your lesion photos to ops.fb.challenge@gmail.com

Retinal Periphery Imaging using #JaizRetiCAM
Innovation by Dr Jaitra P Gowdar
Lattice degeneration in Right eye inferior temporal quadrant.

Fundus videography... was performed using
>Jaiz RetiCAM mounted on slitlamp
>Using iPhone 5s mobile
>Ullman indirect App.

Examinee was asked to look extremely right and down without moving his head.

And Jaiz RetiCAM mounted on slitlamp slightly angled to capture the lesion.

Lattice lesion was near Ora.

About 1 to 2 disc diameter posterior to Ora.

Jaiz RetiCAM can image peripheral Retina in sitting positing and device mounted on slitlamp - which give very stable imaging.
