United MonroeOrganization in Monroe, New York
It's 11 pm, and I returned home from a Town Board meeting - a while ago. What a pleasure it was to see the members of our government conduct the Town's business in an effective and civil manner.
If you haven't been to one in a while, please attend an upcoming meeting. You'll get to see firsthand what we all worked so hard to achieve - together....
Here are some highlights from tonight's meeting.
1. The Board presented the Monroe Woodbury Middle School Odyssey of the Mind teams with special recognition plaques. One of the two teams is going to the National Finals this May.
2. Local Laws 5 and 6 of 2018 were passed, tightening the attendance requirements for all regular and alternate members of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board.
3. Town Clerk Mary Ellen Beams announced that town is offering summer internships for two high school students.
4. The Board authorized Supervisor Cardone to sign an agreement with an economic development consulting firm to secure an operator to either lease or purchase the Monroe Cinema.
Our Town government completed several other matters of business, heard public comment, and concluded the public portion of the meeting by 9:45 PM. What a relief it is to be relaxing at home at a reasonable hour after a Town Board meeting!
We look forward to updating you on future meetings and events in both the Town and Village of Monroe.
