Go Voices a Voice Talent Agency

We're feeling international here at Go Voices today. We are fortunate to work with voiceover talent from all over the world, and it's just one of the reasons we love our job.

Tell your agents why you need to pass on a project. You don’t need to be a jerk about it. But it needs to be said. We need to hear it. And yes, we do feel you do need to tell other talent why it is a bad job and why they should pass too. YOU have all the power here - when even 4/10 talent read on a bad job... the client is validated in sending those "bad jobs." Start with a conversation - don't let it go unsaid, and don't assume someone else will have that tough conversation for you.

Holy cow, Paul Strikwerda - we’re glad you made it!

What's it like to be trapped in your voice-over studio, wondering if you'll ever make it out alive? It sounds like a scenario of a horror movie, but I'm here to tell the tale.

Reaching out to your agents when concerned about rates/terms is educational and frequently we feel very supported when a talent tells us the terms don't fit their ideals. It gives us the backing we need to continue to say NO to "bad jobs." Because frequently, when we refuse to send a bad job, we hear later that our talent read on it anyway for someone else. And that doesn't feel good or make us feel like we made the right decision to pass. It makes us feel like we’ve left mon...ey on the table since you read on it anyway. We understand talent may get nervous about telling their agent no - they don't want to seem like the problem child and get put on a bad list.

Guess what? Agents feel that too when we push back to clients who send us those "bad auditions." But we have the conversation. It's incumbent on us to do this for the health of our industry. And you know what those clients frequently tell us: 'We get more auditions on "bad jobs" than we do on "good jobs."' How does that make you feel? We know how we react to that as agents, VOAA members, stakeholders in our industry.

Cheers to new beginnings! #VoiceStrong

VO Agent Alliance agents ALWAYS appreciate when a talent comes to us with a question about a job. In most cases, we’ve done a poor job of presenting it, which has led to the questions and that's easily fixed and we’re grateful the talent let us know so we can fix it.

VO Agent Alliance is working hard to be a change agent in our industry. But we can't do it alone. From time to time, you may see what you think is a "bad audition" from your agent.
Sometimes that agent may be a VOAA member. It's important to note while agents in general and VOAA members, in particular, are generally on the same page, some things may slip through or we may be willing to work on a "bad job" for a particular reason. Instead of castigating the agent involved on Social Media or calling an Alliance agent to complain, take that conversation to the agent.

We love hearing success stories. That a difference is being made. From one Talent last week:

I just wanted to say - YAY!!

I have gotten some recent auditions where all the usage info and rate info is now totally specific - for clients that previously were the “unlimited lifts/edits” format. I am SO EXCITED!!!!

...

Great job you guys!!!!! Go VOAA!! Change is happening!!! Erik thank you for your awesome video!
