“Dollars for Dogs”..... Yes Please!!!!
This year the four second gr...ade classes of Cooper Elementary School embarked on their annual community fundraiser that spans the months of February and March. Each year the students dedicate this time to focus on the community and how they can make a difference. They start by choosing a cause they want to support and, as tradition would have it, the Vacaville Police K9 Unit was selected as the lucky recipient once again.
The focus of the campaign is to instill in our youth the importance of hard work and the impact each one of them can have on their community. The event culminates with a large assembly.
K9 Russell and K9 Scout arrived as the guests of honor. Staring intently into the crowd, the four legged guardians of the city heard of all the interesting ways the kids earned money. Everything from yard work, mopping/vacuuming, cleaning up after their pets, and hosting bake sales...nothing was off limits. Their incredible efforts racked up a whopping $1,850 which will assist in the care and maintenance of our police dogs, as well as provide opportunities to participate in more advance elective trainings that help them serve their community even better.
As a thank you, K-9 Russell and K-9 Scout showed the kids some of their cool skills. They even gave out a bunch of K9 swag! But we think the best part for everyone was an opportunity for every student to give the pups a pat on the head or scratch behind the ears.
We want to thank Cooper School and their second graders for an incredible job and experience. It is inspiring to see our youth take such a proactive approach in contributing to their community. Thank you!!! Mehr anzeigen
On Friday night around 6 pm, as many were settling down for dinner, ...officers responded to the 800 block of Granada Lane in regards to an attempted residential burglary. With the help of a K-9 and a CHP helicopter, an extensive search was conducted. Unfortunately, we have not located the suspects at this time.
The suspects were described as three younger men, all wearing hoodies (hooded sweatshirts). One sweatshirt was white, the other red, and last was grey. The suspects were possibly seen fleeing the area in an older gray vehicle.
We are asking any residents who live in the area of Granada Lane who may have seen the suspects or their vehicle on their home surveillance to contact Officer Gunderson at (707) 449-5200. Mehr anzeigen
