CAN AN ADULT TEENAGER POST THEIR OWN BAIL AT VEGAS BAIL ?
My sister was arrested a few hours ago on a felony domestic violence charge and was booked into the CCDC Jail in Las Vegas. She’s 19 years old (I’m only 17) and our parents are traveling outside of the country. Her bail is $5,000. I don’t have any money and she’s a college student, so she doesn’t have much cash either. Is it possible for her to post her own bail bonds and set up some sort of payment plan?
Unfortunat...ely, the Las Vegas bondsman will want a more established signer who will be able to guarantee that one, your sister will go to court and finish her case, and two, that the bail bonds fee will be paid. The fee for the bail bond will be $750.00 (which is 15%) and the bondsman will require a down payment. As a rule of thumb, a defendant who wants to self-bail (aka, post their own bail bonds) will need to have established, good credit and/or own a home or be a reputable signer. THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BAILING YOUR ROOMMATE OUT OF A LAS VEGAS JAIL
If you’ve learned that your roommate has been arrested and booked into one of the Clark County jails it’s natural to want to help.
Sometimes, the person in custody will call you, or they’ll have a Las Vegas Bail Bonds company contact you to see if you cosign for their bail bond. The first thing you should know is that when you cosign for bail bonds in Las Vegas you’re taking full legal responsibility that ...your roommate will go to court as often as needed to finish their case. If they skip bail (and/or skip town), you could find yourself on the hook to pay their full initial bail amount as a penalty.
The bottom line is this: if you’ve known your roommate for a very long time and you feel they are responsible and reliable, then yes, you’ll want to help cosign for their bail bonds. If this is someone you just met or don’t know very well, you’ll want to have them contact a close friend or family member. If you would like to get someone out of Jail, Call VEGAS BAIL at 702-228-2245
