I agree with the dependents on this page as well as the veterans, for the past three years I have depended on D.M.V and the service is poor. When you get hold of a agent they don't even assist you wit...h your query ,they just spin you stories. How long have I been waiting for my transport money to come through,I can;t blame the financial Aid office at my varsity because they just give us what the D.M.V gives them. See More

We as veterans are sick and tired off they way that department handle things most off the people their are incopenent off doing a good job so they put the other people in a bad light their is no help ...their I think it is better if the minister go and sort that office out and thanks to the people that work the lazy ones know how they are See More

For the 3rd year running now I’ve had problems with the department. 1st year I didn’t receive any replies on my applications and any replies on my emails to mr Deon Smuts. My sisters are also in the 3...rd year of funding however no proper payments have been made to their school and the school is now suspicious as they think my mother is stealing the money. This year my application has been approved since Monday last week and I sent the bursary agreement thereafter however I haven’t received a bursary confirmation letter meaning I still can’t register for studies and residence, yet I begin lectures on Monday See More

Took me almost 5 years to register as a veteran. Unanswered emails and hugely incompetent staff. Today I phoned to follow up my application for health care last and was told that I was registered 6 mo...nths ago. Nobody bothered to tell me. See More

This page seems to be the official MK Veterans page, this page should be a communication platform from State to all veterans not only to honour MK veterans, they the only ones that do not have complai...nts on this platform. What about us firmer SADF veterans? Start to serve All veterans equally please! See More

The system is not working for widows as well. They traced me for these benefits but nothing is coming through. I don't even get the monthly. That's the government departments for you.

I already registered as a military veteran in 2014, and in August 2015 I called the Presidential hotline and after my complaints was investigated, I was told that the person who worked for the DMV an...d who took care of my registration, never submitted my forms to the DMV. I was medically discharged from the SADF in 1983 after I already got mentally I'll in 1982. When I heard about the DMV for the first time in 2014 and had to send forms away to the gpaa in Pretoria, I needed medical information from my military medical report so I went to 2 military hospital in Wynberg and they gave me a copy of my military medical report. It was the first time ever that I read my own medical report and I don't think that i ever will be able to say in words how I felted after reading my own military medical report.I was not only medically discharged but there was medical negligence involved. I am suffering from chronic schizophrenia and it started a couple of months after my military training started in 1982. The clinical psychologist who worked with me knew about my mental illness but the only thing they did, was to re-classified me from G1k1 to G5 and to medically discharged me. After they medically discharged me I got no help at all from the then SADF, not even a referral letter to a government hospital or a clinic. Also, I still didn't know what was wrong with me after i was medically discharged. A private psychiatric doctor diagnosed me with schizophrenia and I am under medication for the rest of my life. I already suffered a lot and besides the schizophrenia, i also have severe eczema on my hands and forearms and I can't work with my hands. Letters that i wrote and send away to Minister Kebby Maphatsoe the deputy minister of defense with medical reports and proof of what i say, they told me after i called the ministry of defense that they didn't received it, but they did. I send the letters away via registered mail and i have the names off the people who took the letters off at Pretoria post office. In 2015 I send application forms away to the DMV twice, just to be told that they didn't received it.In 2017, I got hold of Mrs. Alettie van Essen, now Sutherland, the deputy director at the DMV and I told her about all my problems that i have with the DMV and I also send her a letter via email. She asked me to send my forms again to her email address and I did so on the 22nd of February 2017. When nothing happened after that, I send a email to Mr. Max Ozinsky, the Director General at the DMV. I didn't got an answer from him but from his secretary a Me. Puseltso Mthombeni. I went to see her at Parliament Towers in Cape Town. Again she send forms away from there to Mrs. Sutherland and after that i was asked twice to send forms again. The public protectors office are investing this matter and in December the investigating officer told me that the DMV told him that i am registered and on the data base but every time when I call them they told me that I am not on the data base.I got so sick and tired of all their lies that i decided to send a letter with all my documents and proof to the President Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa's office in the hope that this matter will be solved. The only thing that i asks is that right must be done to me. See More

First - your website has to be updated regularly. Secondly, the young people you employee there are not compassionate, patient and understanding. It's sheer disrespect for a person to go on lunch whil...e there are 20 old people waiting to be served. The filing is in tatters - member bursary applications waiting approval are all over - there is no orderly filing system. When you phone to request information , the answer is ' we are also waiting for the website to be updated'. Then what are those people there for. The young people employed are just indifferent and have much to learn. You have a good cause there looking after veterans, perhaps inside out and re train those young people to understand that are dealing with older people. It's like people are just working there to earn a salary, have medical aid, get pension and a bonus. No motivation towards the greater reason why DMV exists. There were a lot of empty office a case of 'the lights are on but no one is on the office'! See More

Zero communications
I am a veteran and seek answers, yet this department is in silence to me, and it seems many others, why?
I have numerous questions and have sent short detailed requests. No answers....
Total rubbish.
A very poor experience overall so far, hopefully something positive may occur, I do not hold great hope for this though, bah!

I disagree with your comments. My husband is a white South African, he was Permanent Force in the Defence Force before 1994 as required. We applied for educational support as we are entitled to do, be...cause our children go to a public school. His name appeared on the database, the application was submitted timeously in 2015 along with all the supporting documentation and we have been granted educational support for both children for the 2016 school year. The youngests' will continue, as long as he passes, until Matric according to the contract. The eldest must reapply for university next year as the prerequisites are different. It is unfair to judge an entire organsation based on 1 person's experience. See More

It is always better to first give targets on your delivery and on that you can challenge our useless local goverment councillors by giving to them all the deliveries and you make follow-up to make sur...e they do as you wish.I'm saying this because in our country it is hard for people like us in rural areas we don't even what's are all these you are talking about we don't know even some of the department's we have what are they and what are they for so as you talk of delivery I think also us are included See More
