Today, we placed the beacons on the Lake Champlain ferries traveling the BTV-Port Kent route, as part of a pilot program with Vermont Tourism and the Lake Champlain Transportation Company. The beacons send an RF signal out to the app (Android for test, iOS to follow) so users can take advantage of information and special offers delivered to their devices from nearby merchants. "ViewBoost helps you get more our of life, while in the go."
Underwritten by the Vermont Department of Tourism, the pilot ViewBoost Hub locations are the Lake Champlain Transportation Company’s ferries travelling the Burlington, VT—Port Kent, NY route. In the short term (during the pilot program designed to demonstrate proof of concept) ViewBoost is free for advertisers, providing a unique way to connect with a captive and active audience comprising visitors to and residents of New York and Vermont.
