On Tuesday evening, the Anchorage Assembly voted to approve the municipal election results of 2020.

For District 6, Seat K, they resolve:
Rick Castillo: 8,197 votes. 48.51%
Suzanne LaFrance - 8,564, votes. 50.68%

...

First and foremost, I want to say that I am most proud of you; the hard-working citizens of Anchorage who sacrificed, worked diligently, and suffered a great loss during a crisis, yet still turned out their vote. You gave me the inspiration and the fuel needed to maintain the fortitude to stay in the fight. And it was just that, a fight.

I didn't have union organizations behind me, the name recognition, or the paved road with little obstacles to give me what I needed in the final stretch. I navigated the potholes that COVID presented and ran the election the best I could. Throughout the race, I made every attempt to speak earnestly to issues with truths and stand with boldness. Because at the end of the day, you have to call it as you see it. I'm happy to know that you were behind me and empowered me in that manner.

I will never shy away from being conservative, as I would never expect such from Democrats. I believe in the party system as I believe it's necessary to have the discourse, dialogue, and struggle to find real solutions. We should take up our cases and present it boldly while remaining transparent to those who elected us into office. I also respect those who stand as undeclared and independent, but I expect those who do, to conduct themselves under that brand with integrity. The Anchorage Assembly is not a "non-partisan" entity. It never has been. And it never will. However, it is possible to be open-minded and come to agreeance on issues - we can all do that and still be a bit partisan.

Finally, Congratulations to the incumbent, Assemblywoman LaFrance, on her re-election.

South Anchorage, I ran for you...
and that is what I will continue to do.
Thank you for a solid 48.51% - I have heard that's no easy feat.
