Since the 5:30 show, I have increased our temperatures into the weekend. I think Saturday will reach 90 (at least). Take it easy in the heat! Stay hydrated. For fishers this weekend, watch out for breezy winds and choppy waves on the lakes.
Caught some nice little waves in the clouds today! Just like waves in a pond. :)

Multiple days ahead of 90+ and humid, plenty of sunshine. You might want to check on your air conditioners ahead of time. Also, the lakes are still very cold. All these hot and sunny days ahead should help to push up their temperatures.
Sarah is out sick, so WILX Christopher Lane is filling in. It's our first time anchoring together!
I caught some nice sunset photos this evening! There's a hint of a rainbow in the first one. Did you capture any good ones?

The school year is almost over. Don't play hooky! #SaveFerris

#OnThisDay June 5th, 1985 was the day Ferris Bueller and his buddies played hooky in the classic John Hughes film 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
Tonight's Weather Kid was Hannah, and now I want to see Arrival again. It gave me a new love for palindromes.
We're almost done with Weather Kids for the school year, but we're collecting more for next fall. Send your kid in to weatherkids@fox47news.com. Please include the name, age, and city. And sometimes, a pronunciation might help. :)

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH until 8 p.m. Keep your eye on the radar! Follow WILX Jim Holton as he tracks the storms. I'm away on vacation, so it is difficult for me to make regular updates. Stay safe!
It's graduation season! So I thought I'd share one of my own graduation photos (I'm near the front right). I earned my Bachelor's degree in meteorology (minor in math and communications) from Valparaiso University in 2011. These were my fellow graduating classmates. Many of them are also in broadcast, others in research, private sector, or the National Weather Service, some also here in Michigan, and I think at least one is in the energy industry. Such fun bright people and we all keep tabs on each other. I visit my professors every homecoming if I can!
Wow. That's a LOT of tornado activity.
This is a very serious outbreak for the plains.
Sarah Swistak, FOX 47 News and I shot some fresh promos today!
