WOW! Who doesn't love a gorilla?! But this 12ft high gorilla is amazing and cleverly made from old spoons...40,000 of them! Some of which were sourced via Freegle back in 2014.
The sculpture took 5 months to make by artist Alfie Bradley with the British Ironworks Centre for the illusionist Uri Gueller (famous for telepathically bending spoons of course).
If you are looking for materials to reuse, upcycle or repurpose please do have a look on your local Freegle community, every month about 500 tonnes of stuff is given away for a new life via our Freegle members - it's a free service for everyone in the UK!

Clever ecoBirdy in Belgium turn waste plastic into fabulous kids furniture!
Chair Charlie in Sky blue. With the production of this chair, 2.9 kg of plastic has been saved from being landfilled, incinerated or, at worst, ending up in the oceans. In addition, 7.25 kg of CO2 emissions are avoided.

A collection made of 100% recycled plastic is not obvious. There’s much effort in guaranteeing safety and insisting on high quality. This makes it more complicated and difficult than making new design furniture from virgin plastic. All products are made of ecothylene™. An innovative material –...

Remove plastic from teabags petition via @38_degrees
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p…/remove-plastics-from-teabags
Why is this important?

The petition started last year with 38 Degrees to remove all plastic from tea bags succeeded in persuading the UK's largest tea bag manufacturer, Unilever/PG Tips to remove plastics from their teabags.

...

But the other leading UK teabag manufacturers are still using plastics in their teabags.

The issue of having these plastics (polypropylene) in teabags is a concern. 20-25% plastic in each teabag is not a small or insignificant amount when multiplied up by the millions and millions of tea bags consumed daily. These plastics do not biodegrade in the environment.

There have been many campaigns to keep plastics and microplastics out of our seas, highlighting the harm they do to marine life. But the same is true of plastics on land as they can cause harm to birds and small mammals. We need to keep ALL plastics OUT of our environment.

We know that it is possible to use other materials that are biodegradable and I am told by a major European teabag paper manufacturer that there is a “Gold Standard” of cellulose-based bags that will readily compost in your garden compost bin, which, in fact, goes a stage better than the PLA-based bags about to be employed by PG Tips and Coop.

With your support, we can make the other UK teabag manufacturers remove plastic from their tea bags.

Some of Britain’s favourite tea bags - made by Yorkshire Tea, Tetley, Twinings and Typhoo - contain hidden plastic. Shockingly, every cuppa we drink is adding to the dangerous plastic waste polluting our environment because these tea bags are sealed with plastic that doesn’t rot.
