There's a lot of inflamed emotions right now over the election. I ask anyone who follows me to take a deep breath and accept the outcome. People who voted for Trump need not be our enemies. Emotionalism and fear are our enemies. Let's figure out a way to move forward together as a country.
Trump says he will be a great President for all Americans. Good, let's hold him to it. Nobody knows exactly what he wants to do and no matter what you think of him, he is the current President-elect of the United States. Burning American flags, smashing windows, lighting fires and calling for our leader's deaths is not the answer and will not lead any of us to a better place.
We must be Ghandi, we must be MLK, we must be Jesus Christ. We must fight hate with love.
We all want the same things - safe neighborhoods, good schools, jobs that give us dignity and a paycheck to support our families, a country at peace with itself and the world with a brilliant, secure future for our kids. We will get this, because we are many. We will get this because it is right and just.
To give you the cold, hard, historical facts - movements that condone violence have less than a 5% chance of success and generate further repression, movements that are peaceful succeed more than half the time. Together, through the example of non-violence we shall overcome all opposition and stitch this broken country of ours back together.
You be the leader, you set the example. Be brave. Be strong. Be unafraid. Be a symbol of peace, mercy and reconciliation in your community.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now, we see through a glass darkly. For now, these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
