The professors are pretty cool, limited food, and transportation, the library on midtown has been updated it's nice now, however thats not the only place that'...s needs renervations a lot of the class rooms building are old and outdated. The Old Main Building is ran by unprofessional student workers, especially Daisy she is rude and needs to be retrained ! Thankfully they do have a few workers in there that aren't students who can actually help you with your concerns, I guess WCSU is trying to cut the cost by hiring them instead. Please stop hiring lazy student workers! Even in the bookstore Kevin was very rude, he even argued with me over the phone, I don't know how you guys run buinesss it's extremely unprofessional and he needs to be retrained like the others ! Most of the professors are great and helpful. However, there are some professors who are crazy/don't like difference of opinion. Be careful what you say on camp...us here because everyone is soft these days and can't handle voiced opinions. Parking sucks, split campus is absolutely unnecessary, shuttle buses are super slow and inconvenient , security here lacks, none of them could chase down an assailant of any kind if needed, Mid Town campus cafeteria is designed terribly, the service is slow, food is subpar. West side food is great, set up more efficiently, staff actually speak English on that campus. Not really ideal parking on either campus, and no true recreational use of any of the many fields, they are strictly reserved for sports teams. See More

Great school, love the campuses & most of the professors are top notch. Wish they would figure out the parking lot and the white hall heat issues but otherwise, loved it!

So far amazing staff, professors and students! The people at WCSU are very friendly and organized. And they maintain their environment very well. I felt welcomed from the moment I first enter the building.

Ok here why I give Western Connecticut State University (WCSU). The University has many issues that needs to be address, but they need to and go on for years wi...thout action and wait until people retired.

WCSU is own by the State of Connecticut, which part the problem for university. The reason for this problem back to when Board Regents was created under Gov. Daniel Malloy. This board fold the all public state run college and university except for The University of Connecticut or better know as UConn. This situation has created more issues for the schools in that system. The money to higher education in Connecticut disportionately goes to UConn because state legislator is mostly composed of UConn alumni.

Another issues that WCSU has administration see the school as business. News flash, the WCSU was established to train teachers in 1903 and provide for the public. The school more concerned with selling itself.

Now, for the good. The student of WCSU are the heart of school. There student groups on campus that challenge the status quo. It thru them the school has change for the better.

The best part of WCSU is you get education that you put into it. I would say not only academic you learn at the school, but how organize, think, and how best challenge the status quo.

The connections I made working with students and staff at WCSU have helped me to grow as a person and a professional.

I had a great time at Western. I received a degree and had some fun while doing so. I do recommend getting involved! I was in Greek Life as well as an Orientati...on Leader. College is what you make of it. Even the biggest party school can be boring if you sit in your room all day! Get involved and have some fun while learning from professors who care. See More

So..it's all well and good that the school of visual and performing arts got a beautiful new exhibition center, but.. last I checked, the nursing program is sca...ttered around midtown campus..in 2 different buildings, on all different floors, with equipment that is totally outdated and/or doesn't work properly. Doesn't the nursing program deserve an upgrade?? I think it is more than well-deserved and definitely way overdue. At the very least, put all the nursing classrooms and labs in one building. It would facilitate a more enthusiastic and positive learning environment if we were all together, practicing our skill sets with equipment that is the same that is found in most hospital settings. Started off well...year two not so good.
My son didn't have a dresser or ladder for his bunk bed for over two weeks...Crawled on a desk to go to bed.
He was rob...bed - dorm room items. Nothing was done to the person who clearly robbed him. Not enough parking.
Not what we expected or what we are paying for.
Admin doesn't seem to care or address issues. The ones that are addressed are done so after multiple attempts and unnecessary parent intervention. Update. Transferred!!! Terrible 2 years.

I spent a semester as exchange student at Western and I can't find any negative aspect about my experience! Everyone - students, faculty and staff - have been very helpful and kind, courses were well done and interesting, and the campus was good as well.

I think it's a great school. The security there is very good safety is their priority. Football is great coaches are good keep in contact with you. Tell you abo...ut academics and how your child is doing. One dorm was pretty gross but one my son has now is very nice and kept clean. I'm glad he chose western and I would definetely recommend it to anybody interested. Great school!! See More

I've enjoyed the experience in earning my masters degree and, was honored by being asked to be an Adjunct Marketing Instructor. The mix of traditional (full tim...e) and non-traditional (working / part time) students made for interesting classroom discussions. Learning requires more than textbooks. See More

I graduate this year, and honestly I would never recommend going here. When I was a freshmen in 2013 I saw how the campus was and the feel of the campus was fin...e at first. However that changed quickly. The campus is always dead because they never bother to really try and promote anything. The WORST part of western is the staff. Some of the staff are the sweetest people but some of the staff are just horrible. I can say almost NO ONE is fit to work with students. I would NEVER EVER GO BACK AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND GOING HERE until they make necessary changes. I am just disgusted at my time here. If it wasn't an instate school I would have gone somewhere else, but people go where they can afford. Try to plan ahead and don't go here. See More
