Yellowhammer (Emberiza citronella): This brightly coloured species of Bunting was introduced to the Falkland Islands, South Africa, Australia & NZ from its native Eurasia. At 16.5cm (6.5in) this distinctive yellow bird is large for a bunting. This bird feeds on the ground a lot of the time, on seeds, grains, oats and other plants such as yarrow. Common Suriname Toad (Pipa pipa): This species of frog from South America has an unusual breeding characteristic. KIDS LOVE WILDLIFE - Group for Teachers and Parents are looking at jumping spiders (family Salticidae) this week 23-29 September.
As of 2019, this family contained over 600 described genera and over 6000 described species, making it the largest family of spiders at 13% of all species.
