We are truly glad we extended our stay here in Woolgoolga to go to this fest. It was a wonderful event. So vibrant, festive. So many people, so much food, diffe...rent cultures. Unbelievable! This is in Australia. In a small coastal town Woolgoolga. Truly amazing.

Love the many food especially curry or Indian stalls. And LOVE the Punjabi or Bollywood dance and music, the colourfully dressed performers, the drum of the catchy Indian tunes. The event and place would not be the same without them!

And my highlight besides the food and music is the Turban tying stall and learning about the contribution of the Aussie Sikhs to the world and the Sikh culture.

The only major drawback I find, there were no FB or hastag reference for Instagram printed anywhere at the fest to enable people to know where to link their photos to for sharing their experience or photos of the fest.

Great event! Well done to the organisers ! :-)

Outstanding community event and what a turnout for 2016! So many great stalls, music and heaps of tasty food. StudioMove did a wonderful job with the Breathe,... Move, Live zone offering free yoga and pilates classes, but the best part by far was the Sikh Temple stall where you could learn about the religion and get a free turban too.

Woopi, thanks for sharing your community spirit and curry with us all!

Wonderful and colorful stalls and great entertainment.

I had a ride in a teacup and made new friends. Watched the Smileys perform and danced with the Boll...lywood dancers.

We left with a 6 pack of cupcakes from Sugar Kitchen and a six pack of Grumpys Gingerbeer for afternoon tea and some Mango and Ginger sauce for our grilled barramundi from Bakarindi. Food and entertainment. Our life is complete.

Congratulations to the Woolgoolga Chamber of Commerce, sponsors, organizing team and stall holders and entertainers and volunteers for the best Curryfest 10th year celebrations and to the amazing Tegan for bringing it all together.

Curryfest was good. Love the Indian culture. Loved the meditation tent near the beach. Wish there were more people doing Indian head massages. Loved the Butter ...Chicken with Nan bread. Loved the cook at home recipe packs. Loved the MKR contestants cooking curry.
Did anyone get MKR Cathy and Anna's prawn and scallop curry recipe today?

In northern hemisphere countries, Easter is traditionally a time of new birth with the coming of spring. It is also a special commemoration time for Christians ...- mourning the death of Christ on the cross on Good Friday and then rejoicing his resurrection on Easter Sunday. For the Sikh community, each year around 13 / 14 April is also a time of celebration, remembering the birth of their faith in 1699 and the start of their new year. On Saturday the Sikh community of Woolgoolga on the New South Wales north coast held their annual street parade to celebrate their faith. Here are some images of their very colourful, warm and welcoming festival.
