We're gonna be here temporarily Donations Center open Monday through Saturday 10 to two. Asking the community to come out and support us with great quality clothing shoes purses that. Take a moment to introduce two other very important gentlemen, who have some words for us. They're on our board of Supervisors, Supervisor Andrew Joe and some provides a gentlemen if you would please. thank you Jerry and of course I wanna thank my colleagues Supervisor Don Wagner this is in Santa Ana My district and it's not in his district, but he takes the time to be here because he believes in the cause. I have been working with working as an attorney in the public Defender's office and as a DA and I was so glad to be able to work with with working wardrobe to bring them as a partner here to the County and Orange and 18. And employees have been working with looking product for the last three years as a collaborator and we are devastated by the news we are here together to pledge our systems in helping holding Woodruff to continue to work and to rebuild we will work with our CEO at the County to see if there's any way that the County can step up and help to find a temporary shelter for working vote that they can continue their mission and I'll help. As well, Thank you supervisor until yesterday working wardrobe was in my district. It's home was in Irvine and when I served as mayor, I had the opportunity to take a tour of the place. see the great work that was being done there and donate myself. When I heard yesterday of the fire, almost the very first thing I did was email Jerry and pledge the support that you heard supervisor dough relay today we will work with the County to see if there is a facility available on. Property that can serve as a home temporary or for the long term depends on what we're able to find, but we do pledge to help get working wardrobes back well. I would say it's on speak. it is on its feet. It's on its feet right here and it's gonna continue to do the great work. It's been doing for years. It's on its feet because Nicole Sedan and Goodwill stepped up what happened yesterday was the loss of stuff just a lot of stuff but just stuff. He was injured thanks to the great work of the Orange County Fire Department and today Working Wardrobes is back accumulating the resources. It's gonna need to help the people that has served so well for 30 years. We're pledged to the County to do our part in continuing that work and I'd like to just make sure we've reached out to everybody in Orange County. You've been extraordinarily generous over the last 30 years well today and in the coming months is the time to step back up and help this fantastic Organization all the great people out there. Standing behind us and so many more out in the community. Thank you all for being here today. Thank you for helping working work roads. And I do wanna make sure that you understand behind me is the remarkable team, a staff that is dedicated to delivering on our mission every single day our mission of helping people men, women, young adults and veterans get back on their feet and back to work. This is the staff with working wardrobe, an incredible group of people and I thank them. I love them. We're gonna do it together for sure. Thank you so much everyone now we have one incredibly important person. It's not like. Important people, but the team that came to our building on Cattery yesterday and attempted to put that fire out. We're just remarkable and leading that charge is an incredible man. Tony. If you would say a few words, thank you so much. Today we just wanna say we're sorry for the loss Great Organization real briefly about this fire. Our first units got on scene and there was fire through the roof. it makes it a very dangerous fire because the roof collapsed is imminent with with this kind of fire volume, Our firefighters actually went inside and made an attempt to try to put this fire out very, very dangerous fire to fight but because of the volume of fire and the smoke and the heat they were pushed back. It's something firefighters do not like to do. We do not like to stand outside and put those dreams in, but it was just too dangerous. The fire to fight so we did make a diet attempt to firefighters did a great job. Unfortunately, there were no injuries. at this point. We have our preliminary dollar loss at 10 million dollars for the structure of two million dollars for contents that may be adjusted as we start doing inventory. so where does the investigation stand right? now? This is a very very challenging fire investigation due to the amount of damage to the building. It's not something that we can send our cruise in our investigators in and and go to an investor. The walls aren't stable, There's lots of debris in there, so this is gonna be a lengthy process so right now, we're putting the causes undetermined under investigation and we'll be working diligently that the fire investigators UCF A wants to find out the cause just like the public so we are doing our job diligently. To the Orange County and we provide Fire Department, they were extraordinary yesterday simply delicious yesterday yesterday, we thank you, Tony and everyone who came out to support us. We heard what we want. With everything that we can replace. So grateful that nothing. Ask our community to rally. We're gonna ask our community to donate most everything that you have in your closet for both men and women business casual professional clothing. Justin has told you that we are in great need of financial resources. Writing a check is a wonderful thing to do for us. There's no question about that. We are going to definitely need some volunteers that we have a very active volunteer Department. We're gonna ask you for your time and your. Sources. We're gonna ask you for laptops. We gotta ask you from other supplies. There is actually everything that we need. We're gonna ask you for it. If you think about what you do on the way to work and what you do in your office. So we're asking you to make sure that those donations come in. We will be open tomorrow Donation Center from 10 until two. We will continue this mission where this is just the start of our second 30 year. Made this piece the start of something extra. So the donation Center opens tomorrow. We'll be open every day through Saturday from that time here at this location, you know how many suits how many dresses how many shoes like how does this affect that the people who benefit? Last year, we served nearly 5000 men women. Generate and if you project the amount of clothing that we need to serve those people, it's tens of thousands of suits thousands of pairs of shoes. We are reaching out to all of our regional partners our friends. If you have a brands are gonna be making some donations, but we need clothes. And so the clothes that exist in people's closets companies that have done clothing drives Central wonderful resource for us together from them and it's a great way to get involved with this Organization. We want companies to get them to the ground floor of people. Donate clothes Donate time. To talk about how this charity started, how this started this at what the reason was. And what it is for people not familiar what it is you do so this is the I always call this an accidental nonprofit Organization. I started 30 years ago serving survivors of. I knew that these were women who want to desperately to get back on their feet, so they wouldn't go back to my husband and they need the tools to get back to work and it didn't take a rocket scientist to realize that exactly that stay model was what many many men needed and we have just decided to grow over the years. Frankly, it's because I just don't have an ability to say no there isn't any reason to say no when this community is so generous and we have the opportunities to say yes and deserve more people we've actually served. Hundred and 5000 men, women, young adults and veterans in our first 30 years we can do so much more and we need to do so much more. And when you say tools can you elaborate? What what is it you provide So most of the work we do is providing career development services. We are doing case management. individual employment plans were doing Scott soft skills training, hard skills training, and we're doing a job placement for our clients. so they clothing is just the icing on a great cake, but it's the confidence that. Dignity that we're instilling in our clients on the inside. That's really the magic sauce that we provide for our clients and what did you notice all those years ago, That was lacking that you thought you could offer that this group of folks that you're helping you know at the base of any issue that our clients are facing any barrier to the employment is just a sense of blossom of dignity and loss of self esteem. We're re invigorating them were recharging them. We're giving them a sense of dignity and a sense of purpose and we called the. That we're doing the opportunity for a clients to experience the power of the paycheck. We want our clients to go back to work and make this community more vibrant and more healthy. What's it gonna take to rebuild? What's it gonna take to rebuild? I will tell you exactly what's gonna take. It's gonna take this community finding us a 30000 square foot building that some generous soul is gonna say. I wanna give this building to working more girls and it's gonna take tens of thousands of people donating clothing, thousands of people donating their time and their financial resources. We are going to do this and I think we'll do this in record time. We've already moved 18 times, I told. Andrew and John I'd like this to be our last permanent move, so whoever has that 30000 square foot building. Let me know ASAP. We love to work with the Irvine building donated. No. It wasn't. That's fairly new, too right 2016. We moved in. Yes we moved in to 2016, but it's it's not a new building. is your reaction when you saw what happened. I don't know that there's any way to put into words what a reaction is when you see 30 years of your life and your labor and your love up in flames and so I I think it's actually surreal and and yet what moves us is. We know we've gotta get into action and that's where we were yesterday and that's where we are today. We've got to get back on our feet as quickly as we can, we have lives. That our depending on the work that we do. It was the biggest loss inside. I know you said. It's just property lost, but there's probably a circle some important property. I'm sure what to you. What's the biggest the hardest thing that's gonna be to replace in there. Oh, my goodness. what a great question you know. we all have some momentos that we had in our offices. I have an amazing number of proclamations and letters of recommendation for this work and I think that I'm gonna ask our supervisors to help start us on the path to getting more more letters of recommendation and proclamation. I think everything else is just donated material that we can replace it, but it's the. Of support from this community that we want to remember and and we'll we'll definitely rebuild. We have some remarkable photographs of our clients our before and after photographs, those will take a new, they'll be more clients who will be involved in those photographs. So I think honestly, there isn't anything that can't be replaced. I think what happens to my heart is that we just need to fill it back up with you. How much was lost everything? It's a total loss of the Organization. everything that we own the hospital every hanger every piece of clothing every piece of paper every. Any other questions. How fast can you launch a clothing drive healthy basket? And who do you know with a 30000 square foot building? call us 71421 zero 246 zero or our website Working Wardrobes dot org. Thank you so much ladies. Thank you.
