The time travel proposal scene with @grantgust in the Season 1 finale of the show is one of my favorite pieces of acting ever, and ...Tom's icily delivered "Run, Barry. Run..." is pure perfection. The man can bring the drama. But right before you say "Action!" or call "Cut," Tom is easily the funniest guy in the room. Want proof? For a taste of Tom, listen to his hysterical podcast ‪#‎mikeandtomeatsnacks‬. He keeps the energy up on set between takes and then drops science when we roll. A guy like that on a set is invaluable, but a guy who's also awesome like that in real life? That's a keeper. And Tom Cavanagh is, indeed, a ‪#‎Canadian‬ Keeper. What it's like to be my daughter: 17 year old @harleyquinnsmith_ received this message simply for the heinous crime of posting a pic of herself on @instagram. I have zero clue what the reference to ‪#‎TheMatrix‬ is all about but, wow - way to unload on a teen girl because YOU have nothing to do in life. But even though I should be apoplectic about it, my kid thought it was funny. "I'd be mad if I had a tiny dick and anonymous voice too," she said, bemused by the bitterness. B...ut here's a nickel's worth of free advice for folks like this Troll: if you hate me (or my kid) this much, the better use of your time is to make YOUR dreams come true, instead of slamming others for doing the same. The best revenge is living insanely well - so if you wanna get back at a 17 year old girl for the grievous crime of enjoying her life, the best way to do it is to succeed in your OWN existence. Show the world WHY we should be paying attention to you instead of anyone else. Because randomly attacking others merely communicates how creatively and emotionally bankrupt you are. You think you have something to offer the world but others are getting all the attention? Don't bitch or punish the world: just create. Create something nobody's ever seen before and there is a good chance the world will notice you. Attacking teen girls on the Internet is the saddest form of masturbation that exists and requires no discernible skill or talent. You want attention? Don't make yourself mad, make something original and fun. Because if you're not being useful in this world you're being useless. I escorted @harleyquinnsmith_ to the @sundanceinstitute ‪#‎nextfilmfestival‬ the other night. After receiving a vanguard award, ‪#‎NateParker‬ introduced a grant for upcoming filmmakers that was named after his breakthrough film, ‪#‎TheBirthOfANation‬. He gave a speech that spoke to every storyteller in the room. But before the award, they ran a short about the work of the Institute featuring all the celebrated ‪#‎Sundance‬ films of the last nearly three decades and ‪#‎Clerks...‬ was one of them, represented by the scene that introduced @jayandsilentbob. My kid looked at me and I just nodded, still proud as fuck of the film that changed my life. But nobody would've ever heard of the flick were it not for the ‪#‎sundancefilmfestival‬. You will believe a man can cry! Ecstatic to be directing an episode of @supergirlcw this season! Fell in hardcore love with the show, the heartfelt @melissabenoist portrayal of Kara Zor El, and the excellent use of ‪#‎jonnjonzz‬, the ‪#‎martianmanhunter‬ from @dccomics. Just like they did with the @cwtheflash, @andrewkreisberg & @gberlanti (and @aliadler) have crafted an incredibly human show about a person with superhuman abilities. ‪#‎Supergirl‬ depicts family warmth so wel...l, watching season 1 made me feel like I missed out on life by not being a girl who was best friends with my adoptive sister. I cannot wait to head back up to ‪#‎Vancouver‬ in October (after returning for another episode with my beloved Central City family of filmmakers from ‪#‎TheFlash‬ in September) to find out how the incredible cast & crew of this show I adore make such an engaging and emotionally satisfying hour of storytelling every week. But there's bittersweet poetry to this Super gig: 20 years ago, I wrote a script for a movie called ‪#‎Superman‬ Lives - a Superman reboot that never got off the ground (see the brilliant documentary ‪#‎thedeathofsupermanlives‬ by @jonschnepp for the full story). The other day, my own personal superhero ‪#‎andrewkreisberg‬ told me something in an email that made me roll a tear: it has nothing to do with the actual plot of my episode, but they titled the script for the one I'm directing "Supergirl Lives." Only way any of this gets better would be if Kara has to fight a giant spider (or "Thanagarian Snare Beast") in the 3rd act...
