I am ashamed it took me so long to finally get to this wonderful place. Where to begin? The atmosphere, no matter what room you were seated, dripped with charm.... Just a marvelous feel. The food was outstanding, beginning with the conversation board appetizer that was nothing short of the 8th wonder of the world. (you have to see it). We opted for the Mediterranean offering. The person I was with had a marvelous lunch dish entitled Spinach Toastie, creamy and simply wonderful. I had the Mole (Mexican inspired) chicken sandwich. In truth, despite it being a fine sandwich, there was nothing even remotely Mole about it. Had I not seen it written on the menu, I would never had known it was anything more than a, well, a fine chicken breast sandwich. The server, Heather was delightful. Despite my disappointment over the mole I was so looking forward to, I have already picked out what I would like to try next and went ahead and gave it 5 stars. Oh my fondue and York St. Café you were amazing tonight. From the cozy atmosphere to the superb, delicious morsels of goodness. Your chef is something to be pro...ud of. All of the burgers at the table said, best burger they've ever had. The Mediterranean Board is always my favorite, my sweet girl and I loved it. It was a perfect evening to celebrate. Ver más

Had the Brie en Croute!!! Excellent!!!! Also had the Special of the night.....Sirloin with a hommade Mushroon bearnaise.....fabulous... A quaint little bistr...o hidden in Newport. Great ambiance with a lovely soundtrack playing, in the background. A great place to meet friends or have a romantic date night with your significant other. Ver más

Always amazing, always delicious, always a top-notch restaurant with a great staff, fantabulous cooks and a gracious owner to boot. Not to be missed are the desserts, the filet (love that Worcheshire sauce reduction) and that oh-so-naughty Dirty Hummus starter!

Stopped in here after our first choice was very low staffed and wasn't going to work out. Great second choice for sure! Chris was our server and he made the exp...erience above and beyond! He was funny, helpful, attentive, just awesome! Terry was also around and took our group picture for us and could tell was over viewing the dining room, making sure everyone had been helped and was taken care of. My two friends had mixed drinks that were great- I had the pineapple martini drink (can't remember the actual name sadly) but it was AMAZING! Totally got your money's worth for $11! Very very good! Our table shared the shrimp appetizer which was great with the bread and the sauce that it came with -it is a small portion though :( For dinner, my two friends had the fish dishes- one was grilled and the other was pan fried- both were excellent! (The pan fried was a baby bit over done for my liking but was delish!) The main fish was in a wonderful cream sauce and was perfect! I had the filet steak dinner which was AWESOME! My ONLY small complaint about it was that I ordered it medium rare and it was definitely more on the medium-to medium well side. The mashed potatoes were awesome, broccoli was cooked perfect- but the best part was that the steak was a bit charred "Pittsburgh-style" which was an awesome surprise! Chris then gave us a few small slices of cake as a treat (strawberry) which was the PERFECT bit of light sweetness to end the dinner! I will definitely be back along with my friends!! Ver más

We went there on a date for coffee and dessert. Hot chocolate was amazing! And we loved the hot buttered pecan pudding cake!!! Also loved the environment...and the pez dispenser collection is super cool!

The table next to us asked how spicy a dish was, and the owner overheard as he was walking past. As the server is explaining the spiciness level, the owner comes back with a sample for the table to try. You just can't get that kind of service anywhere else.

So glad we chose York St Cafe for our dining spot when we came to Newport for my birthday weekend. The food was super. I've never tried carrot and ginger soup ...before - so glad I did. Our waitress - informative and a delight to chat with. The owner - bent over backwards (almost) to give us a grand tour of the building. The history is exciting and the building tells you more. We only ordered from the lunch menu and it was fantastic. Worth coming just for coffee and dessert (peanut butter pie, buttermilk strawberry cake)!

This place is beyond awesome! I've been to quite a few "upscale" restaurants but none can compare to the service, atmosphere and that welcome home feeling you g...et from the entire staff! Terry and Chris made my daughter feel like a princess and she will never forget you guys and neither will I.

What a place! Fantastic in all aspects from the service (a BIG shout out to Chris!), to the atmosphere, to the food (the chicken molè sandwich was phenomenal). I will definitely be back!
