None of us need to be eradicated
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network opposes the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. As a judge on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Kava…naugh has opposed the rights of people with disabilities to make our own choices. He has said that he might want to strike down the Affordable Care Act, which we depend on for health care. Supreme Court appointments are for life, and the cases he hears will determine how laws are applied across the country. If placed on the Supreme Court, Judge Kavanaugh could be the deciding vote in countless cases affecting our lives. This is a risk we cannot afford.
Judge Kavanaugh has ruled that people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities do not have any right to a say in our own health care. In Doe ex rel. Tarlow v. D.C., Judge Kavanaugh ruled against two women who had been forced to have abortions and one woman who was forced to have eye surgery. The D.C. agency that serves people with developmental disabilities had consented to all three procedures without discussing them with the women. Judge Kavanaugh wrote that because the women lacked “capacity” to make their own medical decisions independently, they had no right even to be consulted. This decision dramatically delayed the women’s ability to obtain compensation for the harm they suffered.
Judge Kavanaugh’s overall record shows he would not respect the rights of the disability community
Judge Kavanaugh’s record is deeply alarming to the disability community and clearly shows that he does not value the civil rights of people with disabilities. For these reasons, ASAN urges the Senate not to confirm his nomination. Our most basic human rights are at stake.

Large text title reads: WARNING: THE INCREDIBLES 2 IS NOT EPILEPSY SAFE
Medium text underneath reads:
This is not a joke. I was at a premier showing tonight and my immediate thought was how disastrously unsafe this movie is for my photosensitive epileptic friends. @markingatlightspeed I’m tagging you with this specifically because this would be (in italics) extremely dangerous (end italics) for you to watch.
(Bold text) There are multiple scenes in this movie with full-screen, black-and-white flashing strobe effects. They all happen without warning, and last anywhere between a few seconds to more than two minutes. In a darkened movie theater, this means the likelihood of a seizure could be VERY HIGH if you are sensitive to these effects.
If you have photosensitive epilepsy or another disorder that is triggered by strobe lights, I would highly recommend you DO NOT SEE THE INCREDIBLES 2 IN THEATERS. (End bold text) Wait until the movie’s released on digital/Blu-ray, and you can watch it in a fully-lit room, with someone with you who will be able to help if the strobe effects do trigger a seizure.
Please stay safe.
