Repost from The Himalayan Club:
Mountaineers of the Western Himalaya 1878" a classical wood engraving by Bickers & Son, London, 1878.
Captures the essence of mountaineering at a very exciting time in the Western Himalayas. When one could walk could walk over the Pir Panjals into Kashmir onto Ladakh/ Baltistan and onto the fabled cities of Yarkand and Kashgar in Central Asia.
