Growing up, I often felt like I had more than one mom. The fact is my mother intentionally surrounded me with a tribe, and I grew up with mom, a big sister and Auntie team there to love me, to guide me, to protect me always. My mother made me who I am. My sister Petal, my aunties Opal and Gemma stood in the breach and stepped up whenever needed and whenever possible. These women formed my foundation, taught me how and who to be. They demonstrated mothering in action as long a...s I've ever known them. Thank you for raising me. I am blessed to have an incredible mother-in-law who has been part of my tribe for 17 years. I want to take part of this special day to celebrate my mom and the women who have been mother figures to me throughout my life, and to pay tribute to all the amazing moms and mother figures out there who support, assist, and come to the rescue. I made a simple dinner. Roasted cauliflower and roasted cabbage steaks. A fresh side salad. Spicy Cajun salmon with a cherry tomato and basil topping – made with 1/3 of a cup of the same Pinot Grigio I’m sipping on. We’ve got dessert on deck and Barefoot On Tap.
